If you could pick just one team to beat in football this year...

No question. Alabama.

This question is largely a how-old-are-you? referendum. Most of you young'uns don't remember Alabama being anything other than a toothless old has-been program, so the bulk of your ire is directed towards Florida. Believe me, I understand that. But for those of us who lived through the Two Unspeakable Streaks Of Futility, not much tastes sweeter in the fall than that dram of whiskey after beating the Tide.

I agree

Winning against one and losing to the other would be as satisfying as knowing you own UF's basketball team - yet seeing them repeat as champs.

The only satisfactory outcome this year is victory's against both. We can lose every other game - as long as we beat UF and Bammer - I will continue to support Fat Boy. A loss to either will result in registering www.firefatphil.com.

I really want to pay them Razornecks back this year too. They made us look like boys on D last year.:banghead2:

Umm... I would say if I had to pick one team this year for us to beat, it would be whoever we are playing Jan. 1st or later.

1. gators (we really need to knock them down a few notches)

2. UGA (they still think they are God's gift to football, and need to be shut up AGAIN)

3. Bammers (because they have sex with sheep, and that just ain't right...)

*sorry, I couldn't pick just one*
:)

If UT truly only beat one team all year, as in 1-11, I would want it to be Vandy. I do not think I can suffer losing to the Dores again in my lifetime.

Alabama...then, now and forever

Someone else mentioned the age thing and it's true but Florida never had a leg up on us (visualize a large mutt and a fire hydrant) like Alabama in the 70's.

A fifty year win streak against Bama would not be enough for me

It seems like every time we beat Florida we give them our absolute best shot. It's a shame we don't play them at the end of the year though, like we did in 2001.

It used to be Florida for me, but Bammers, IMO, are astronomically worse than gators.

I can't believe that nobody's said it yet, but the thought of losing to South Cack-a-lacky and the Head Cock makes we want to jump off the upper deck of Neyland. Vandy is right there, too.

Don't get me wrong, and I'm with Vercing... on the Alabama and the "decade of futility" issue. And, I HATE FLORIDA. But, the loss to the Dorks in '05 and Spurrier in general make me physically ill.

How 'bout this? Let's just win 'em all.

If Fulmer wasn't so concerned about beating bama bc of all the crap in the 70's, maybe we would take the florida game a little more seriously...since it pretty much determines the east and everything. Then again I wasn't around for the 70's so I don't have the pure hatred for bama. I did go to see the game at arkansas last year, and I have to say...I really just wanna pound them into the ground this year. But The answer to the initial question is Florida.
