If you could give this staff a letter grade for this season....

B.
anyone who thought we would win more than 6 games this year was delusional, the fact we even had an opportunity to win the lsu game says a lot

B no doubt. A- if we beat LSU and beat UAB like we are supposed to. All u ask for in a new staff is to see improvement throughout the year and that is exactly what we saw. Maybe a b+ if we win the bowl game! GBO :loco: :loco:

B+ or B. Without a doubt, a far superior coaching job considering the resources and depth on the team compared to last year.

B- 6-6 record with no losses to teams we were favored to beat.
We played solid against LSU and have shown improvement throughout the year.
We established some identity on offense and have got playmakers young and old Smith, Waggoner and Moore to step up and preform above what we thought they could.
Special teams minus punt returns has been the best it has been in a long time.
Not a great job, but we took a step in the right direction and are gaining momentum going into the bowl game and with a win, we could see a real nice finish to recruiting.

Not a solid B or B+ since we blew the LSU game.
Not a C because we played well against the Ole Miss and Kentucky which I thought would give us a lot of trouble with their spread attack.

If Dooley coldly planned Matt Simms as the sacrificial QB until the schedule got easier at which point he would put in the freshman to start to A) give Bray confidence and B) get the fan base excited about a 6-6 record.

Then I have to give him an A. He bought himself time in an impossible situation and salvaged an unsalvageable season.

If it wasn't his master plan and it just happened that way then a C.

He played Simms because Simms had experience above the high school level. He gave us our best chance at the start of the season. Which, admittedly, wasn't much.

If Dooley had come into the season with any kind of experienced OL, he'd have opened the season with Bray.

I'll give Dooley and his staff an A-minus. If we could have gotten one more win early on, it would be an A.

C+

Our record ended up being what I thought it would be preseason.

If we had won at LSU or pulled an upset they'd be higher in my eyes.

I still remain skeptically hopeful towards this staff.

A-

To everyone downgrading because of LSU: Remember that was the 1st road game ever for 2/3 of the squad, AT LSU, one of if not the most intimidating stadiums in the SEC against a vastly superior team. Coaching is the reason they were in the game.

As for the Oregon loss, possible NC team, and they've done that to everyone they played this year.

Except GA we showed improvement and good effort every week, until depth and rokkie mistakes KILLED us.

Keeping in mind that coaching is a process, I think we definately saw improvement from week 1 until now. Also, know one should have expected this team to even compete for the SEC east, so I think that process doesn't nessasarily equate to what we do now, but what can be built on for 2011, 2012, and so on. I don't think Dooley's going anywhere soon, and is planning for the long haul.

As Coach Terry Joseph said on the CDD show "This guy's the most organized guy I've ever seen, and he has all our schedules filled until next August."

C

Even though they played a lot better at the end of the year there were too many costly coaching mistakes earlier in the season.

Solid B. Considering the roster limitations we had this year and considering we were implementing a new offensive and defensive system with essentially all new players on offense, we weren't going to compete with the top 10 teams on the schedule. The LSU game keeps this from being an A.

HIGH C+...if we would have beaten LSU or UGA, it woulda been a B from me. Thinhs are looking up. I expected 6 or 7 wins at the begining of the season, felt like 7 would be AWESOME. Overall I thoght the staff coached great

If a "C" is considered average, I would have to go with a "C". Because this staff accomplished what most reasonable people expected them to accomplish.

B*
* - This grade can be helped or hurt with our performance in the bowl game and with our staffs final run to NSD. I am fully behind Dooley and his entire staff right now. I was expecting our record to look close to what it is, except I did expect one win out of the losses. If we had won at LSU, it would be a B+ or maybe an A-. Also, I love what CDD is doing as far as personal development with the players. Without that in his favor, this would fall to a C or C-. But, all in all, considering everything they had to work with, everything working against them and the fact that we threw several freshman/sophomore coaches into Jr and Sr classes right off the bat, I would say a B is something you would run straight to the phone and be ecstatic telling Mom and Dad about.

B Given the facts everyone had us at the bottom, no chance. He took a young team with no depth and went 6-6. He should have beaten LSU but he didn't. They played well in the first half of all thier losses, it was depth that killed them. He fits with this team and will do great things, can't wait to give him an A+

They grade a D. Just because the cupboard is bare is an excuse. I refuse to lower my expectations for UT football. Competing for the SEC gets a C+/B-. Winning the SEC gets a B+. Competing for the BCS NC is an A. I'm that tough old SOB you all tried to avoid in freshman English!

IMO, you have to go higher than C because we won all of the tossup games. In each of our losses, we were underdogs of 13+. I would go B+. If he'd finished off the miracle at LSU, I'd go full A.
