If you could change the Titans uniform and colors....

Wow, SDV, that uniform looks great...Love the top helmet. Maybe add some red highlights, but yeah, I could really get behind that.

I agree. Just so you know I didn't create those. Found them online

I love this. The uniforms are one reason it's hard for me to like the titans. Also never liked young or fisher . Really don't care for the coach now. I would like some black in the jersey. Maybe red and silver too. But the vol in me says rt hey should have made them with orange to begin with. Wasn't it the copperheads a name that was close to being picked? I'm just not a big fan of the color blue. It should be blue and another color not blue and blue. Hell I like the oilers jerseys better..I wish we were copperheads that was my vote .

Yes the copperheads was a name that was in my opinion going to be the team name and the bud Adams stepped in out of nowhere and made it the Titans. The uniform that was being discussed for the copperheads looked similar to Notre Dames uniform and instead of gold it would have been a copper color. This state is infested with copperheads and snakes in general. And yet they decided on the Titans with a raccoon as a mascot. Never been a fan since.

The Tennessee Copperheads? Are you guys serious?

The Tennessee Copperheads? Are you guys serious?

I remember reading about this concept and proposal in the newspaper in 1997. I don't remember all the particulars, but it didn't get me excited. What I do remember is that they proposed a holographic Oilers logo on the backside of the helmet that you could only see at certain angles that would help preserve the Oilers tradition. Anyway, I didn't like the colors, the logo, or the sound of "Tennessee Copperheads."

I've always liked the Titans logo, team name, and color scheme. All the other proposals were pretty lame, I thought. Another one I remember is the Tennessee Tuxedos. I hated that, and presume most others did as well.

All true stories.

I think either of those two names would take the title of worst nickname in the NFL by a mile. I do like the uniform design posted above though. (But, I agree, I'd throw some red in there.)

I remember it very well. I remember Chanel 4 or 5 had a poll of some sorts of some new names and the copperheads were at the top of the list/poll. Then out of nowhere they did the big reveal and it was the Titans. I remember looking at all my friends and my dad we just kinda scratched our head and wondered where and how they came up with that name.

I think you're right, I remember the Titans moniker coming out of nowhere, too. I don't recall seeing it it in the published list of options.

Whatever the case, I'm glad they got rid of the Oilers.

I think Nashville made out pretty well in that regard.

When Memphis made it's proposal for the expansion team, As a 13 year old, I vividly remember being excited about the prospect.

.....and them the locals announced that they would be known as the Hound Dogs.

.......

I was honestly relieved we didn't get it.

That's hilarious that you mentioned this. I was in the Navy at that time. I worked on F-18's. My job was a plane captain (Not a big deal, serviced the jet). Every plane captain had their name with call sign on the side of the jet. The story broke about the NFL looking to expand to Memphis and be named the Hound Dogs, so my call sign was "Hound Dog". To this day, I still get emails and letters titled Hound Dog.

I've always actually liked the alternate sword logo better than the primary

This.

I'm fine with the light blue but like the sword logo much better than the flaming ball. I also would remove the dark shoulders. I've never cared for them or the light shoulders on the old dark jerseys.

I like the colors fine but I really hate their standard home uniform. The light blue jersey with the navy pants looks so Arena Football to me. I would LOVE if they wore the white pants with the light blue jerseys, which would be a great throwback to their Oiler look. It's the only combo they haven't tried, and honestly I think it would look the best.

I do like they embraced the light blue and made the navy a more secondary color, since navy is almost as overdone as black. But they need to drop the navy pants at home; in fact I would be fine if they dropped the navy pants all together, or just keep them for every once in a blue moon type stuff. The road uniform looks awesome to me.

As for the helmet, I wouldn't mind a new logo, and I'd like to see how a light blue helmet would look.

I would probably keep it as is. I would love to add a bit of red to it, but I think any changes wouldn't turn out well.

I remember the red alternate they sold about 10 years ago or so, but I don't think they ever actually wore them did they? I remember it was a rumored Christmas Day uniform when they had the Monday night game against Dallas on Christmas night.

I dunno. I have a red titans cap, and there was a time when Defensive Coordinators all wore red caps. They don't seem to sell them like they used to.

I like the current logo and colors.

I do too, personally.

I know a lot of people around the NFL think it's ugly but I was hooked when they first moved to Tennessee and thinking of The Freak, Music City Miracle, falling a yard short in the Super Bowl etc.

To me, they're classic now. I didn't care as much when they trotted out all of the light blue in the VY era but I liked the uniforms they wore with McNair.

If they aren't going to try the light blue jerseys/white pants combo, then I would agree to go back to the navy jerseys/white pants combo. Both are better than what we normally wear at home now.

I also think if we're going to keep wearing white at home in the early September home games, then we should wear all white. I loved it when we did that back in 2002 against the Eagles.

Memphis and all those leagues

They tried a USFL team as the "showboats"

A CFL team as the "Mad Dogs"

I thought their was a proposal with like mud dogs in their somewhere

The XFL with the Maniax

The AFL2 with the Xplorers

Then I think they tried to take the NFL to court one of those times over not getting a team

Don't forget their AFL team the Pharaohs from 1995-1996. Because you know...they played in the Pyramid in Memphis.

I can't believe they tried to get an expansion team with the nickname "The Hound Dogs" and to play in the Liberty Bowl.

Pharoahs' games were awesome. The Hounddogs nickname was the subject of many dry looks and eye rolls.

Living in Memphis, you appreciate what Elvis means to people, but it gets a little old every now and then.
