Guys, I hate to say it, but da** it stinks to lose to these type of teams. What do we have to do to win, what do we have to do to get a break? We are so far in a hole now that we are in major trouble. An 8-8 conference record is going to be tough considering we have played 3 of the weaker teams in the conference and stand 1-2 against them. I was so mad last night that I busted holes in the wall and totally racked a junk car with a baseball bat. I am still so freakin pis*** off.

Is it possible that our game plan is not a good one. We have no big man but I feel we shoot to many threes, I know we are solid at the 3 line but Lofton will shoot 2 feet behind the three with a guy in his face and he does it often. There is no coach that would tell you this is a high percentage shot. We need to work on shot selection.

I was going to make a post like this (not including the VOLS induced rage you had). But, like he stated people are so ecited about BP and the excitement he brings which he does, but to compete for the SEC you don't lose games like we did last night.

Using this thinking, I guess last year UF fans would have said, if you can't beat USC and UT you are not a special team.

I understand what you guys are saying. The younger guys are maturing and it will take some time. The thing I like about this team is their attitude - they hate to get beat. I have to agree with the shot selection. I think Lofton has been given the green light to shoot anytime he wishes. It's a double edge sword - when he's hot, it's great, but when he's cold, it hurts.:hi:

I dont mind the three atempts but take some open shots, most of his are guarded or running sideways off a screen. If he had some nice open looks he would get hot again.

Just a reminder. At the beginning of the season, few believed THIS year would be special. The common feeling was.."we have the makings to become a special team"... I know it's hard, hell I'm bummed out about dropping a 14 point lead too, but we really should try to remember we are watching a great program in it's infancy.

We now return to your regularly scheduled, and I know much needed, venting session.

Let off that steam folks...

Vanderbilt isnt that bad this year. They also beat a decent Ga Tech team.

And like everyone is saying, we're too young and thin down low. Everyone knew this coming in. Once we get some more size, we'll be fine. We have lots of young talent...but the key word is YOUNG.

At least we lost to Vandy by 1 on a last second tip-in, and not by 12 like Bama did...Remember that Auburn had a good shot at LSU to take that game too. Wait til we drop games at home before we start saying sky is falling.

I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and say these losses, by the end of the season, will have created a stronger, more matured team than they would be if they would have won them. And these losses were very, very close remember.

I say they come out ahead because of what's happening now come March.

I never would have thought we would give up a 14 point lead to Auburn in the second half last night. We basically did not get to the free throw line.


Lofton does throw up some crazy shots, but he nails a good percentage of those. Even Pearl says he has the green light to do that because he is so good at it.


As far as losing to Vandy goes, they are a good team. They knocked off the #9 ranked Crimson Tide by 21 points last night! Also, we did lose to them in their building. We will get revenge when they visit Knoxville.

The Vols are a young team. They are honestly playing better than I thought they would be at this point in the year. They have matured a good deal in the short time since the season started.

Hopefully we will not have a new doom and gloom topic started after each basketball loss like we do in football. :no:

Are you guys serious? We start 2 freshman at key positions. We have very, very limited height from the post all the way to the guard positions. We lost on the road to a team that just blew out #9 Alabama and on the road at Auburn who had a great chance to beat LSU. Would I have liked to win those games? Certainly. Does losing those games mean this team doomed? Not even close. They never should have been in the game against OSU. They were a nightmare match-up all over the court. They beat a great Oklahoma State team. That shows you the teams potential. That is the nature of having a young maturing team. How do you question Chris Lofton's shot selection? You need only look at one thing when questioning shot selection...shooting percentage. Lofton is shooting a great percentage from inside and outside the arc. His shots look like bad shots but for him they are not. The problem is that Jujuan Smith sees Lofton take those shots and he wants to match him. Well, for Smith they are bad shots. Look at his percentage over the past couple weeks. Ouch. He is a great physical talent but his shot selection is the only thing that keeps him from being an All-SEC guard.

I agree that the only person on the team that deserves a green light on his shots is Lofton. Shoot, I don't care if he shoots it from the scorer's table. Now, JuJuan on the other takes way too many bad shots. It seems when he is struggling offensively that he tries to force his shot. JuJuan is a great athlete and when he gets hot can drop the 3 ball all day long, but when he is not on he has to let the open shots come to him instead of forcing shots.

Let me clarify. Alabama was a #10 team and lost to Vandy by 21 not 12. Must've been a fast typing typo on your part. The sky ain't falling boys and girls.

I feel a little better now, but the fact remains that you MUST win the winnable road games to compete for the top 2 spots in the eastern division. Don't you guys agree that road games like Auburn, Vandy, Ole Miss, and Georgia are more winable road games at Florida, Kentucky, and Arkansas? I know we won at Florida last season, but it will be tough to win again. My point is that vandy and auburn are still not one of the top 6 teams you think about in this conference. My point is that we have to have a good record against the bottom 5 teams and I think both vandy and auburn are in the bottom 5. Florida, Kentucky, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee in my mind should be the top 6. It's just frustrating the way we have been losing the last 3 games. I am still going to the game Saturday, but guys let's face it. South Carolina and Ole Miss next Wednesday are both MUST WINS in my opinion. We lose those 2 and I don't think we finish with a 8-8 record in conference. Do you disagree?

i dont understand why u guys are already talking about an 8-8 conference record. We can beat those top teams..LSU, bama, and UK look very vulnerable...we can beat thsoe teams...
