Son, who was the coach during the Regan era? Are you aware that his first 3 years he was 4-7, 5-5-1 and 7-5 in year 3. I would bet this board would be on full meltdown mode if he was coaching now.

It was Johnny Majors in case you didn't know.


The point is that the shambles the program was in when Dooley took over it is going to take longer than THREE years to rebuild.

But you are not the only one that doesn't see that.

Being a fan of UT football is painful right now. It's like watching something you love get the crap kicked out of it and knowing there is nothing you can do about it and then knowing next week you're probably going to watch it get the crap kicked out if it again. To be honest, having an optimism right now is kinda of insane but we still try, we still do.


But the thread on here where the poster asked are we the worst fans in the NCAA? Get the F out.

We have sucked, let me repeat sucked for a decade now. We have lost to Florida 8 times in a row. Lost to Kentucky for the first time since Reagan was in office. You know Reagan? He's the guy who isnt even alive now. The last time we lost to Kentucky was so long ago that Michael Jackson was not only alive but he was still black. The last time we were beating Alabama on a regular basis Saturday Night Live was still funny and Jim Carey made good movies.

Right now, we have no proof at all that Doley can do this. We have no proof that things will get better anytime soon. And it is damn frustrating.


And for the posters who say it's only game 3 of the season. Seriously? It's game 3 of the 5 season in a row we have blown more chunks than Monica Lewinsky. It's bad guys. It's really, really bad.


So back off the people right now who think the program is in the tank because they are right. But thank God Gruden is coming to save the day. He owns land ya know. And his wife was a cheerleader or something.

OP you do not speak for me! I believe in our Vols, even if they lose a game or so. Using your logic, Denver Broncos should pack it up and quit the NFL, or fire Elway, or bench Peyton, or .... How about this idea, take the lesson and pick up on the next practice or game.

The difference is Johnny Majors had won a national championship somewhere else. We dont even know if
Dooley can win. Majors also had a signature win which Dooley has never done. Majors beat Notre Dame a top 5 team 40-18. All coaches that are great make big strides the 3rd year. Bryant,Majors,Spurrier,Fulmer all had a big 3rd year or/and signatures wins. If we let Dooley stay another 3 years there has to be some indication he can get it done. Florida & Akron have actually showed the opposite. The inability to run the ball consistently and run the ball on 3rd and 1 or 2 or 4th and 1 are other problems. Also, the whole off the field circus with D.Rogers and Bray,losing 7 coaches,etc. indicates Dooley is in over his head and is part of the problem.
