He wouldn't be interested in the position, its a lateral move. We already tried to hire their HC last year and he wasn't interested for the same reasons.

I agree with the first part of what you said; if we're losing Wilcox I want the total package, a great recruiter and a great defensive coach. IDK that Bumpass would be a great recruiter at UT. Steele is the guy we want. I would like to have some stability in the staff so I don't agree with the second part but if Justin is gone I want Steele in.

For thoses that don't know Dick Bumpas coached linebackers here in the mid 80's for a couple yrs...

I'd rather have Steele, Dooley had him last year. Everyone on UT's campus thought it was a done deal, they were already making the press releases & everything until Clemson came in at the very last second to offer alot more money. Steele & his wife are from South Carolina, they love it there. The only way I see us landing him is if he knows Dabo is on his way out of Clemson. If Clemson has another bad season next year that whole staff will be gone IMO. If Wilcox does leave & I'm inclined to believe he is then you will see alot of shakeup on the defensive side of the ball IMO.

I stand by what I said last year before we hired Wilcox...
We need to hire Dick Bumpas's mustache, at the very least. That thing is beastly.

Im with you and I think Steele is a better recruiter than Bumpas. Plus, I'm like LWS, I think Bumpas' age is something you need to look at as well
