... it needs to be Tee Martin

The biggest issue people seem to have with Tee as HC is his lack of HC experience.. Yet we are looking at all these other coordinators with the same amount of HC experience as Tee (zero)...

Why are we ok with Pruitt, Steele, Venables, and Tucker taking their first HC job with us.... but Tee "needs some HC experience"

I like Tee and would love for him to be here, but the depth of experience between most of those you mentioned and him is wide.

Tee Martin not even getting an interview shows me one of two options.

1. Nothing has changed and Fulmer in charge is to distract and make fans feel warm & fuzzy and keep business as usual

2. Fulmer wants a coach he can control and choose his staff for him.

What's going on at Tennessee righ now down to Who Tennessee is down too. It's either #1 or #2

First off, those other names all have more coordinator experience then he does. Secondly, if Tee doesn't pan out it could create a much worse situation. This administration has been known to drag its feet on making decisions under normal circumstances, try giving them a HC who is a VFL and national champion...oh yeah, and the AD might be someone who experienced that when he was coach.

Tee may very well be a good coach, but I don't think Tennessee should be his first stop. JMO

Tee needs experience, period. He's been a part time OC for 2 years.

Now this is understandable... If Tee didn't work out, it would be very hard to fire him.

of all those coordinators, assuming Venebles' motives have changed, i'd want him over any of them. that guy has just been around really good programs and staffs, and knows what a championship program looks like, how to recruit it and how they're run.

from a performance basis....how has OU's defense been since he left? and how has Clemson's Defense been since he's arrived?

guy has a couple national titles, a couple more nt game appearances, multiple conf championships/BCS type bowls.....

yeah, gimmie Venebles all day long.

the question that just can't be answered about any of these coordinators is how would they do at running the whole program, vs. just their side of the ball....and you just won't know that until you see it.

The only problem is; when you hire a former player, you view it through orange colored glasses. Kinda like you should rarely bet on UT because you are biased, and you're probably gonna lose.

If we're going to hire a coordinator, it needs to be Jim Bob Cooter. Cooter >>> Martin

Steele has previously been a head coach and he was beyond awful....

The best thing for Tee would be...

(1.) Get an OC job where he is the main man and not a (Co-OC)

(2.) Get a Head Coaching job at a school in a conference like The American, CUSA, MAC or Mountain West for 3 or 4 years then take a P5 job.

Why interview him if he's not ready. Come on now. OC, that's fine. Same with Steele as DC. We can't risk it with these two. Too big a hire though we've about screwed the pooch already.

More experience than Dabo had. He had never even been a co coordinator.

Steele would be terrible.

Guess it comes down to do we trust Phil to do this. Though some of these guys seemingly questionable, one difference b/t Currie and Phil is he's got relationships w/ coaching fraternity to get inside judgement and good secondary opinions. If Phil keeps hearing Tucker from the field, then he'd do well to consider him. I do trust Phil to absolutely do his best to put us on the right track, an would really hate it if the Schiano/Currie potential pay out situation caused the powers to give Phil a lesser budget.

Am also hearing that Cutcliffe not out of picture, which could be one reason why Chief was on a plane this morning from Chattanooga to Atlanta?

Prefer Venables, Tee would be second on the list of coordinators for me.

Can someone explain to me how the heck Steele is even considered?

Guy was 1-31 in conference games at Baylor. I know Baylor isn't an easy place to win but the in the last 40 seasons at Baylor not coached by Steele, the team was over .500 in more than half of those seasons.....

We griped about Mullen being a few games under .500 in the SEC and Schiano being 20 games under in the Big East but why not a similar outrage towards Steele?

Or maybe Fulmer knows Martin's intelligence isn't enough for him to be a head coach. Martin had an 11 on the Wonderlic. Has Martin ever had full control as an OC without a HC controlling it?
