Then I would assume we had a coach that was aggressive in the third. If Butch was the kinda guy to go for the jugular asap in the second half when up by 3 scores. Ya know the kind of guy who calls aggressively and let's their players make or break the game. We could have beaten Oklahoma by 20 or 30 points. We WOULD have beaten Florida by several touchdowns as well. We would be creeping on the top 10, if not in it.

Our butch sometimes lets his brain get in the way of what's in front of him. He does run the program with his brain though. This has caused him to at least make adjustments game to game. After BG our pass defense was a joke on ESPN or memes. The next week our secondary shut Oklahoma down for most of the game. After OU coach seemed to seek improvement with aggressive play calling early.

HOPEFULLY this weekend he improves his reaction to the adjustments Arkansas makes, the passing game, and most importantly the development of his "blood in the water" coaching.

I have always supported butch. I had no doubts until last weekend. I'm pulling for him, but if he can't learn to win in the sec. Then I'm off the coach's bandwagon. I love this program, and he is our coach. I want him to succeed. I sincerely hope he improves his strategic coaching. I think he could be great.

I hope today he begins.

I am standing on the bumper of his bandwagon with one foot off. Winning this game would not change anything for me but losing this game......

He has to grow at the same pace or greater pace than his players and right now, I think there is a LOT more skill on the field than on the sidelines.

Watching UGA/Alabama right now.

Butch has to see an opportunity to redeem himself against both of these teams in the coming weeks.

If he does beat both teams (and takes care of buisness against Arkansas tonight) all is forgiven (for now) at my house.

They just called "roughing the snapper" vs Bama on a Georgia fg attempt...wtf? So now you can't try to push the guy in front of you? There was absolutely nothing done there to warrant that penalty.

I'm watching also. The Dawgs and the Bummers will be a handful.

Yes. It's been a rule for a long time. The long snapper has his head down when snapping, so he is in an awkward place. Teams started crushing the guys head down and another jumping over the gap. In fact, in HS you don't suppose to even line up over them.

uga and ala are beatable.....we do have top 10 talent on this team, but with a coaching staff thats unranked among top staffs, its gonna be tough. i hope they can learn as the season goes on.

That's been against the rules for awhile. I'll let you line up with your head between your legs and have a 300lb lineman bowl over you and see if you don't think your neck is at risk.

100% agree with this!

Good post. I agree with all points. I'm just worried that he's not going to change who he is as a person. He's not a risk taker. And you just can't succeed in life without taking risks. There's a million metaphors...the most successful people in the world have also been responsible for huge failures. Business men go bankrupt, but still put it all in the line and go for the huge deal. Some of the greatest home run hitters have the most strike outs.
How can Butch not realize his legacy is going to be "the coach that had it all but no guts".

It is what it is. I don't completely blame Butch for either loss just like he doesn't deserve all the credit for a win. Ultimately, players win and lose football games. Could he have done some things differently absolutely but that is true for every coach win or lose. UT has some great talent but it is severely lacking in many areas like the oline, linebacker, and secondary. The play from them has been atrocious late in the games. This is without a doubt the worst group of linebackers overall at UT that I can remember and the oline is just is not very good. The secondary overall is average at best. We have some great skill players but they are drastically limited by our oline and poor qb play.

Everyone is clamoring for more down the field throws but Dobbs could not hit them which results in nothing more than a wasted down. That is assuming the oline would give them enough time for the play to develop.

I know it's a rule, just saw nothing whatsoever to suggest they should've called it. That's not what happened here. The nose tackle literally just moved forward and made contact with him and they called it. Ridiculous. It's like Travis Stephens said in another thread....this ain't real football anymore...it's flag football.

CBJ has and is bringing in a lot of talent, but the experience and depth aren't where there should be for a SEC team, but he is working on it,Big Time :)

very true, but there has to be some what of a deep threat. it opens up a lot of other options.

I must be watching a different game. Alabaman and Georgia look much better than us in all phases of the game. They are making catches I've never seen us make.

If there is a big game to be won, you can guarantee "Big Game Butch" will embarrass his state again.

Right now I'm just hoping he can beat a 1-3 team.

This is one of the games that I thought UT would lose before the season began. I should feel much more confident now that I know the real Arkansas, but I also know the real Butch.

That's 3 big if's and the 2 big if's don't matter if we don't win tonight. We don't have the offensive line to beat Alabama yet.
