did you every think Tennessee fans would be happy with a 8-5 record? how far has the program fell? i feel like a Georgia fan from the late 90's.

No way will we be 5-0 at start - every year someone posts something like this - remember we are in the SEC. Very hard for ANYONE to start 5-0. :loco:

If you guys start 5-0, dont worry, I'll pinch you and wake you from the dream.

I think TN goes 6-6, with a punchers chance at 7-5

Everyone in the SEC can be beat this year, there is no one here gonna be all that great the EAST is down and USC just isn't that good. We start TB last year from start to finish and we beat USC and probably LSU. ARK has ?'s that no one us have the answer to and there D really isn't nothing to write home about. Bama has no QB and Trent Richardson will not be the same without Ingram as a 1-2 and can be beat more then once. Lsu please, enough said we beat them last year except for a few series of plays that cost us the win and a bunch of damn refs that don't know what they are doing. GA just sucks and Murray is a good player but not all world and will struggle to throw the ball on better secondaries. I'm not saying we will win every game but we definately match up with these teams very well reguardless of how young we are. Sometimes it's better to be young and play with your heart on your sleeve then getting ready to make millions.Seen it a hundred times.:loco:

IF??? IF??? I expect it!! :rolleyes:

"IF" is the biggest word I know for two letters. If we start 5-0 I'll probably crap in my pants, but glad to change them. Then, of course, my expectations for a fantastic season will just go out of sight. GBO!:dance2::rock:

Yes, most would be happy with an 8-5 record this year. And yes, we have fallen pretty far. At least 8-5 shows good, not great, progress. That's the way CDD is trying to re-bulid, slowly but surely. If we go 8-5 this year, I think we have a chance to go 10-3 or maybe 11-2 in 2012. Yes, I would be more than happy if that senario plays out. :rock: :loco:

All you guys are afraid of the Gators.

This is ridiculous.

These guys have a longer road back to the top than UT does, and their new, genius (0-0) head coach has just made it harder for them by attempting to run a Pro Set offense.

Really? Throwing out an offense (Spread) that has won UF 200+ games in 20 years?

While they're attempting to sort things out, we will beat the Gators.

Next question?

For a wise ole Vol, you sure seem lost...Florida has won 6 in a row. They have stockpiled talent. They beat UT last year by 2 touchdowns. They have one of the most respected OC's in football. Their HC has had 1 team not finish top 10 in defense. And you play them in the Swamp...

Theres a reason Florida is favored by 8 points right now...

This guy ? What is your deal ? Are you delusional and just going off of Vegas Lines ? They have never been wrong have they ? Also did you watch ESPN's gators practice live ? With Muschamp clapping his hands after his STARTING TB put the ball on the ground 5 times not once but 5 TIMES. Truth is the Gators are in a bad position right now and they can lose to anyone outside of Candy and the 3 other Cupcakes they play. Excludes FSU cause I think they are actually the best team in the EASTERN US THIS YEAR. I love college ball and I keep up with it. Florida fans even know they aren't gonna be very good and they are right they won't so I'll take my chances in the SWAMP. I respect the Gators they usually are a great football team but I don't see Muschamp and Fat Boy getting along through the season. Besides a prostyle offense will NOT work with SPREAD players.

====================

I live in Vegas. There is no casino here offering a bet on a college game to be played in 3 weeks.

The fact that UF has won 6 in a row is all the more reason they're likely to lose. Florida has gotten worse, and Tennessee ha gotten better.

FYI, UT lost 11 in a row to Alabama through 1982 then won 4 in a row, then lost 7 in a row and from 1993-2006 lost 3 games. Streaks don't last.

Through the coaching changes, UT was as lost the last two years as UF will be this year.

Your HC is a DC who throws out Steve Spurrier's offense.

Swamp Schwamp. Tennessee is going to throw it 45 times. Florida DBs will be gasping by the 2ndQ and wishing they were playing in the Smokies.

UT will beat the Gators this year.

I loled

You are old, aren't you?

It's like my grandpa, a few years back, talking about the Packers and their QB Bart Starr
==========================

In case you didn't know, Spurrier was Florida's Head Coach.

He installed the Spread in 1990, which the Gators have run since then, winning 200+ games and 3 NCs.

It takes 3-4 years to install a Pro Set. Charlie Weis will have 2 weeks to make it work before the hungry Vols come to town.

Good luck!

Lol I was aware. But that was Urban Meyer's offense. Even if they were already running a spread offense when he came to town, it wouldn't be Steve Spurrier's offense. That was the reason for my comment. I thought you simply misspoke, so my mistake.

The question was "if we start 5-0 how will we finish," not, "will we start 5-0?"
Stop ruining threads.

If we start 5-0 then there is no way we lose any of our last 3 games, and having beaten Georgia and Florida (hypothetically) we should be good enough to win 2 or at least 1 of LSU, Bammer, S.Carolina and Arkansas. That puts us as 9-3 or 10-2 on the year, 4-3 or 5-2 to respond to the OP's specific question. In which case I will be absolutely giddy.

Meyer's offense was Spurrier's Spread with Tebow.

And he wasn't very good running it without Tebow.

With Tebow, he lost 7 games in 4 years. Without, he lost 8 games in 2.
