30+ points. I guarantee all the people that have been on this message board saying we cant judge our team by a win over WKU will start saying "Oh UCLA sucks you cant base it off that"

Apparantly the only way we can be better than last year is if we beat Florida.

Good thing we will! :crossfingers: Go Vols!

If Tennessee wins by 30.... I won't care what anyone says because the Vols will be in the top 25. I would hope anyways. I'll take 25th. Should probably get 25th with a 20 point win which I think is possible.

UCLA is an improved team over what they were last year, IMO. If we beat them, we are an improved team ourselves. I don't think we'll see a 30+ point win (I'm thinking 2 TDs tops), so while I could be wrong, the OP probably raises a moot point.

True that. I really wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee puts up 31-38 and holds UCLA to 10-14.

On the same token, if we barely beat UCLA, there will be people who claim it means nothing and that we're still going to beat Florida. So it goes both ways.

I say we just play UCLA and worry about Florida after that game.

We will win by 21 plus and you are right, people will say UCLA had a better second game this year than last.

No one will believe until we make them believe. September 19th....I am going to have a hard time focusing all week thinking about Eric Berry picking off Tebow, Bryce Brown running away from the vaunted defense etc.

Last year you had the feeling we just did not have the horses. Now we know that is partly true because of how many freshman are playing, but mainly what we know is that our offense was confused and scared and they played like dog crap. That is on the coaches. Crompton is not a different person, he has always had the physical skills, now he has a line that knows what to do and he has WR's running the right routes.

Fulmer apologists need to apologize.

Thank God for Mike Hamilton! Thank God for the best recruiting coaching staff in the nation! Thank God TN is back to where it should be, one of the top programs in the country!

BTW the beatdown of UCLA WILL impress important recruits like Willis and Leifheit and Riggs and Bernard.

Uh.... We are ONE game into the new season, just a few months removed from the debacle of last year, and all of a sudden, UT is once again one of the best programs in the country?

Patience grasshopper.

Exactly.

Geez...some of you are WAY overreacting.

I hope you're not referring to my belief that Tennessee could win by 20. UCLA gave up 24 to an offense that only scored 7 and 13 against Wyoming and N. Illinois. I can't help but to expect Tennessee to whoop on UCLA with an offense that's beyond superior to last years. It was only Western Kentucky but Tennessee might not even score 20 against W. Kentucky last year. That would probably have required an interception or a fumble returned for a touchdown.

No, I don't think that's overreacting.

I think saying we're one of the top programs in the country simply based on beating possibly the worst FBS team in the land is the very definition of overreacting.

Okay, gotchya. I am in no way calling Tennessee one of the best in the country... yet. That remains to be seen. I am looking for 8 wins this season but hoping for 10.

Everyone is right though. I shouldn't be overlooking UCLA but man... I want Tennessee to crush them and I know they have the coaching staff now to do it. If Tennessee can keep the turnovers to two or less, I expect a nice win.

As long as we get that big W I don't care how many points we win by. Sure, it'd be nice to hang a score of 45-20(although I don't see them scoring 20 on our D this year) or so on them and head into next week with some undeniable momentum. But just getting the W is all that really matters. Rankings, respect, and all that other stuff will take care of itself.

Tennessee will whoop up on them....It is super tough to play in our stadium...and it makes it even worse that our best Pass Rusher is going up against a True Freshmen and tackeling a True Freshmen QB...That QB kid will be running for his life all game. Monte did not show any blitzes last week and just ran a base 4 defense. This week Orgeron has put the word out he wants to "Win" so trust he will have the D-Line ready to make some serious noise in the Trenches..If the linebackers have another game like last week...UCLA wont score more then 10 points all day...Their Running game is not that good and with a young O-Line it will be even harder....OUr Secondary is really tough and if we are getting pressure up front then it will make it damn near impossible to throw on us...
Their Defense is pretty good and will be a great test to see where this offense really is...but just like Western I think the big ugly's wear down UCLA and run all over them in the second half...Crompton just has to control the game and make some plays and use his CHECK DOWNS like last week...That was something that I was really impressed by..He knew Western was not that good and could have tried to force some balls into coverage but instead he played very poised and took what the Defense gave him...I remember seeing him check down to the flats numerous times...Keep up the good work boys and we will run right through UCLA....

GO VOLS!!

Here is a thought.....would it not be better for the game to be close? Our young players need to feel the pressure of having to deliver when the game is on the line. Would that not prepare them better to go into the swamp?

Yes, UT has a real offense, UT has real coaches, UT is in it for tons of the top recruits in the country.

The did not have the horses comment was regarding our game against UF, not UCLA which we should have won easily.

If some of you cannot see the profound difference in coaching that was demonstrated by an offseason when kids quit because the work was too hard, where no one got arrested, where our star players are saying they have never understood the game so well or been so prepared, you do not know much about the game of football.

You have to be the most pessimistic Vol fan I've ever seen.
You have to be a Fulmersexual. I can see tempering your expectations a bit because of WKU, but if you can't see the noticeable difference in attitude, execution, & hustle, then you weren't paying attention the last 5 yrs, or you didn't watch last week

I have had enough life experience to understand that change always breeds energy (whether that ends up positive or negative) and that you can hope in one and **** in the other and I will tell you which one will always fill up first.

I will judge this team when they face adversity.
