If we lose to Vanderbilt...

If we lose to Vanderbilt, will you still say the coaches did a good job this season?

I will be mad as he!! probably a little drunk come here, say some negative crap about the coaches, then go to sleep. Be over it on Sunday and looking forward to next season.

Probably be a rough ride for a while. Embedded in the History of the game. A lot of fans expect an instant fix. Most know better. Go Vols.

Thread title was funny :eek:lol:...only reason to open :dance2:

I would "amen" that about a million times. Fulmer let personal loyalties interfere with the loyalty he owed UT and the players. Sanders shouldn't have lasted more than 3 years. Had he been replaced after 2001... Fulmer would still be HC and UT would likely be successful now instead of a mess.

You may be right about that. But, people would have been flipping out after firing the OC of one of the nastiest offenses in the nation that season.
Alongside UF that yr, we probably were the best O in the SEC. Had he fired CRS after that season, then had the same results until 2008, the "firing of our top OC" would probably be ranked as the biggest cause of Phil's downfall.

could you imagine how this team would be with dooley as the coach..lmao SMH butch has done a good job with what he has...we should still beat vandy...the lack of talent on this team is drastic compared to the rest of the SEC minus vandy, uk, arky, and msu...the team is slow, outside of the true freshman (18 yr old kids playing 21 and 22 yr old men) they don't know how to win or deal with adversity...they did a good job against uga and usce but the defense is statistically worse then last year and a true fresh qb with all freshman wr's doesnt mix well for W's in the SEC..it amazes me when people say they if we finish 5-7 that their has been no improvement...GTFOH..we beat usce with way less talent...played a way harder schedule then last year and have a team with nowhere near the skill players on off we had last year and still have a great chance to finish with a better record and go to a bowl

CAN'T STOP LAUGHING

This!

People throw terms like "great" and "incredible" around way too loosely.

6-6 isn't great or incredible no matter how you slice it.

You're right, 6-6 isn't a great record but we knew it was gonna be a rough year considering the circumstances. A lot of people expected 5-7 or worse so a 6-6 will exceed those expectations obviously. Each year going forward, I expect a little better every year and IMO, it will be.

Yes, because it wasn't the coaches that fumbled that ball through the endzone in the Georgia game.

For the hand they were dealt...hell yeah theyve done a good job.
I dont know about you but pig's fumble still hurts, cause were one touchback away from a possible winning record...and a month ago after we beat the cocks, we had a vote in the usa today top 25 poll....that, vol nation is progress, hard work and a thumbs up to this coaching staff.

No, but if you can't motivate your current crop to win 2 very winnable games which would get your team to a bowl game then you haven't don't a "great" job.

As far as recruiting, UT won't finish at the top. Most likely they'll finish 4th or 5th in the SEC. That's not shabby but the other teams aren't sitting around doing nothing.

So back to the question at hand, UT needs to beat Vandy and UK.

How do you figure we'll finish 4th or 5th in the SEC, when we are currently ranked 2nd, or 3rd in the nation in recruiting?

Part of our lofty ranking is due to the vast number of commits we have. As others fill up their class they will catch up and and a few will surpass us. I think we will end up no worse than 4th and maybe 3rd or even 2nd.

Guess they weren't there for the playcalling that allowed Georgia to drive down the field and tie the game.

Good call, Chief...

John Gruden could be coaching this team and the season wouldn't have gone any better than it has.

I didn't realize we were here for "progress". I thought this was a discussion forum.

What statement am I making? It's a simple question.

I got attacked for posting a similar question after Auburn made us look like a high school team. Some people are really into the internet bravado and love to call people names for asking questions.

It's a simple question but a poor one. Anyone who would make a decision or form a solid opinnion simply based on this game has bad decision making skills.....It's too soon to know what we have.

We all know what Oregon thinks, he makes it very clear. I stated that this is a push poll which is essentially what have said here. He isn't asking a sincere question to get feedback. He's making a statement.

He just started a poll. You're the one who made a statement.

Disagree.

Noted........I was burned by believing in both Kiffin and Dooley too early. I like what I see in Coach Jones and his staff, but I've been wrong before.....One thing I will say - if Jones is ultimately unsuccessful I will still admire his committment to our school and his obvious appreciation for the opportunity to coach our team.

If we lose to Vanderbilt on Saturday, will you still say the coaches did a good job this season?

Simple question. Just curious where our standards are at this point.

Do you have a mouse in your pocket? LOL.

When did you become the Voice of the Volunteer Athletic Department, Volnation, or Vol Fans? Who appointed you the Standard Barrier.

What information can you share about the current list of Standards in place. Source it.

Thanks, but no Thanks.

Are you implying that Coach Jones and the Staff have Zero Standards? Do you really think they are lower than yours? Don't answer that because the difference between you and the Staff is that they are Coaches and you are a fan. They live it everyday and you sit back and comment without knowing.

Did I miss something? Are you implying that the players have no standards.

Without knowing first hand, I would state the Gen. Neyland's Maxims are Standards of which the players and coach's start and build from there.

Push Poll Definition-

A push poll is an interactive marketing technique, in which an individual or organization attempts to influence or alter the view of respondents under the guise of conducting a poll.

Nope, just made an accurate observation. His poll was just a clever way to put forth the idea, his opinion, that this staff has been a failure this year. He may be right, hell I voted yes myself. But don't be fooled, he asked a loaded question that he already knew the answer to, to stir the pot. Read a few of his posts for context. He's more than entitled to do so, but I saw right through it. Seriously doubt I'm the only one.

I agree with those two points.
