If we had hired Cutcliffe

I think Cutcliffe's health issues would have been enhanced due to the pressure of our job....

I suspect if we hired Cutcliffe, we would have a lot of 9-3, 8-4, and 7-5 type seasons; maybe even a rare 10-2 or 6-6 season; but Vol fans would've complained about him like Nebraska fans complained about Bo Pelini. He's a very good coach, but I think he's pretty happy at Duke where no one is calling for him to be fired if he goes 8-4.

The question was if we had hired Cut to replace Fulmer.

Where would we be now if UT had hired Cutcliffe to replace Fulmer?

What if Tennessee would have hired Patterson like they should have. Tennessee would have at the very least been a consistent top 10 team every year. I say better than LSU, Aub, and Georgia has been.

Still where we are. Vol fans would’ve forced UT AD to fire him after he didn’t meet expectations. But he’d of been a hell of a coach here if we were willing to suffer through some rebuilding years every once in a while.
