If we don't win Saturday....

IF the Vols lose, Dooley falls to 0-11 against ranked teams. What faith could you have in that?
None, but it would be amusing to hear the spin doctors in here try to justify it. At some point the guy has to beat the good teams. He doesn't have to beat them all every year. He just has to start holding serve. We're at that point now.

I don't care if he feeds the red dog or the orange dog.

I don't care if they run the Wild Pig, the Wild Bray, the Wild Cordarelle, or all three or none of the above.

I don't care if they win by one point.

I don't care if Barbara has to bake a pie with some UGA schtank on it and all the Gators get tummy aches.

This is the weakest Florida team of a generation, and Derek Dooley HAS to find a way to win in Neyland.

Nope. There's no reason for us to lose this game. This is Dooley's roster and is the deepest/most talented we've been in a while. If he can't get it done against a FLA team who's learning a new offensive system, starting a soph QB, has a injured RB, and without some defensive starters he never will.

Vols should dominate and win. I feel that he has turned the corner as an SEC quality head coach with his off season epiphanies. However, if something stupid happens they let him play out the season. If for some reason he pulls off an upset or two along the way they will keep him another year. Otherwise- adios.

First, we are going to win.

Second, we will have (pick your poison) weekly threads that start out:

"If we don't win against Georgia..South Carolina...Mississippi State...Missouri...Vandy...Kentucky...

Will you still have faith that Dooley can get it done??"

:peace2:

Dooley, if I remember correctly, has in 5 yrs only beaten 7-6 Fresno and Cincinnati last year as far as teams w winning records... but you just never know. Stallings at Bama had a terrible record before taking over there and Beamer took a while to get it going. Those are exceptions and when historically great programs in a slump change coaches the success almost always comes very early...Oklahoma, Alabama, etc. Would be disheartening but not necessarily the end of the world. Man does Dooley need this or people here gonna melt down sat night.

We are at that point now, but if he goes 2-3 against ranked teams this year will you try to avoid complaining about him being 2-13 against them in the offseason?

I think we can all agree that those first couple years he wasn't playing with a full hand.

Who is complaining? You want to find those posts or do you talk out your rear end?

No need to wait for a loss in the 3rd game of the season.

If we get down by a score in the first half just throw in the towel right there.

In my opinion Dooley must be one of Florida / Georgia / Bama this year to keep his job. If he does not beat Florida Saturday he may be in trouble. The other games should be much tougher!

are u serious? look at this way alot of our players were recruited by dooley, which there alot more speed and weight on our players then there has been in awhile, we are ranked in the top 25 for the first time in a long time!...and we are finally getting love from espn(wow has the world came to a end)...i dont think DD is going anywhere so suit up get a board and support the Vols!! :loco:

P.S. get loud in knoxville saturday!! this will be my son first time to knoxville and i want the place rocking!! so from the first kick off to the hand shake don't stop cheering for the Vols!!

i know you know a lot about recruiting, what do you think of this years class? i know we need running backs,is CDD filling out spots of need good or not ?

I honestly don't start following closely until December timeframe. too many things can change before then.

Need a big time RB. Need TE or two. always want some high profile OL and DL.

You do realize that the Defense will be LOADED next year..right? We might have to do it the hard way but we should win some games. I also have faith the young WRS and QBs will put a few pts on the board......I...hope?

if we lose the 4 players early I listed, I just think we likely have a hard time matching this years win total. Will be a lot of offense gone... not sure what loaded means? top 5 D in country? top 5 in conference?? how do you quantify that?

Yes, it will be a different team, but still a good team. We return at minimum six of our front seven (possibly all if Lathers gets a sixth year). Included in that front seven will be a dline that is in the top tier of the sec with a third year couch, second year Sentimore and McCullers, and some quality depth brought by the freshman that are redshirting this year. Also includedin that front seven are Maggit and Johnson as juniors. In the defensive backfield we'll have both safeties back, and Coleman and Bonner will be solid corners for us in their second year under Ansley. Plus we will be in the second year of Sal's scheme and should see a big step forward on defense.

On offense we will take a step back, but I don't see it being a big enough step back for us to lose four more games than we did the previous year. Especially when you consider this offense will have an improved defense and not need the shutout. At Wr wehad the top class in the country last year and players like croom and Bowles to step up alongside CP. James is a player that will be tough to replace, but we will have Tiny and Marcus jackson on the left side which will be good for our running game. Also will return Stone and Fulton. Not sure who will replace James, Bullard has seen snaps there as well as Kerbyson, but I feel like they will atleast be competent. At running back, all three of our running backs will be in their second year under CJG, which can only be a good thing for them. At QB, we won't replace Bray, but Peterman is spoken very highly of by people around the program.

I suspect I went over board last night with the 6 win projection. What I should have said was, if we lose those 4 players I don't see us winning same number we win this year, whatever that number ends up.

It is great to see this game once again (even it is only for one year) separate the SEC East contender from the pretender. Anything can happen...but just like old times...the loser is going to have an uphill climb to compete for the east.
