Do we really trust that Dooley 2.0 won't be hired? Do we not feel like we would be in better shape giving him more time than taking another risk with the administrators hiring process?

You really could have just added this comment to one of the endless fire butch threads, they are all equally worthless.

Southern Cal, LSU & Fresno State are looking for new coaches this off season also. Southern Cal & LSU will get bites from coaches before we get interest from quality coaches.
Herman leaves Houston for LSU or Southern Cal. Sweeney stays at Clemson until the ALabama job opens up. Saban stays put. Harbaugh stays put. URban Crier stays put.
COmprise a list of the coaches who are looking for upgrades this season. Then select the third on that list and we might get them to U.T. The top two on that list will go to LSU or Southern Cal.
Firing bUTch will be a step backwards for us.

Firing a coach has many ramifications the main one is paying an astronomical buyout, Tennessee has paid $11M in contract buyouts( Fulmer and dooley). Another consideration is who's available and the salary his agent will demand.
The new AD 's gonna have a lot on his plate.

Like I said in another thread, he will very likely get another year.

The only way canning him becomes a possibility this year is if we lose out. And even with as bad as we've looked these last couple of games, I simply don't see us doing that. I think we'll win at least 2 or 3 of these last 4, end up in some mediocre bowl game, and he will live to see 2017 on the fumes of another 8 win season and ending the UF streak.

Beyond that, however, is fair game. If he stinks it up again with mediocrity in '17 with the new AD then I think he's a ghost.

It's an attempt to get people that don't understand to realize we haven't had the best hiring record. Having someone that's really solid is better than another Dooley.

The 2017 and 2018 recruiting classes will take a hit from the obvious underdeveloped talent, and lack of coaching ability that has been on display this season. It's inevitable. The only question is how bad of a hit is it going to take, and what is that impact going to look like for the next coach after the 2018 season.

Butch is a dead man walking, but he's got 2 seasons left before the incoming Ad can afford to fire him, that's just the tough financial reality of dealing with giving unproven coaches, with too low of expectations contract extensions before they are warranted.

You mean Dooley 3.0? We have Dooley 2.0 right now.

It all goes back to Fulmer- you don't fire a coach of that stature unless you have a home run lined up. You put feelers out to top guys now. If nobody bites, you retain him.

I said the same about Richt.

No need to fire his azz. But someone he reports to has to sit the man down, stuff a sock in his mouth and lecture him about his pizz poor performance this year. Give him notice that he needs to adapt and make the changes required...or hit the Bricks.
