If we can win the first one... Virginia

i think we will take the advantage to get our big men some momentum going into the second round and the (dare i say?) sweet 16. this bracket shapes up very nicely for a pretty good run in the tourney.

exactly. young team, plays poorly on the road, playing in san antonio, a #5 vs #12. I think a lot of people will be picking an upset here.

Sorry, but we won't play in San Antonio until we make it past the first weekend.. And there was a poll on the infamous 5/12 upsets on ESPN... And guees what? The Vols were picked as the least likely to be upset by a 12 seed.:birgits_giggle:

I saw a little bit of LBSU's game with UCLA. I watched all of their game with USC. I looked at a fair portion of their game with Cal Poly. We will have to play poorly to keep from blowing them. out. Western Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, and ETSU would all give them trouble on a neutral floor. They're by far the worst of the 12 seeds. In fact, all of the other 12 seeds would probably beat them by double figures.

well, in all fairness, long beach st. is probably the 12 seed with the least exposure, by far. but i would think we are the least likely as well. i wouldn't be surprised if we are the only five seed that makes it either.

It's interesting that we have some tradition of playing Virgina in the tourney. If I remember, Ralph Sampson led them to two tourney wins over the Vols back in the day.

Do you feel confident that this UT team could take this UVA team? I really do feel quite confident with the first 2 round draw.

I saw them a good bit last night.. Our perimeter defense will be important, they have alot of good shooters and have a pretty athletic starting 5. And their pretty good in transition as well.. But I think we'll force alot of turnovers, and they don't have the depth to last the full 40 minutes of our kind of pace. They usually play 7 deep, but they'll likely have to play nine next Friday..

I think at tourney time an unappriciated point is control of momentum or tempo. I think it's critical the Vols be able to recognize when it's changing and make the adjustments, as this team seems to be powered by emotion more than structure or raw talent.

Slick Rick says, guys this bracket is set up perfect. The Big Orange have an excellent chance to advance far in this tournament. The possible matchup in the round of 32 is good considering Virginia's guard play. Also like the chances of upsetting Ohio State if they play again. First things first, got to go get that first one.
