FYP. You said kiffin, I know you meant Fulmer because Kiffin hasn’t gotten UT, USC or Ole Miss any Playoff appearances has he?

I've no idea if he will be a championship coach or not. The SEC has never been harder to win than it is now.

I do know he has some flaws late in games with a lead, but overall he's been incredible. We literally rose from the ashes of 2020 and are playing consistent top 15 in the nation football, while having excellent recruiting and top of the nation level offense.

I don't think we've hired a coach since Doug Dickey that could have turned us from the titanic into a speed boat in so short a period of time.

Correct. Presently, the only championship coach in the SEC is Smart. The jury is still out on everyone else.

I wouldn't dispel the thought that he is a championship level coach. We are finally above the 50% blue chip ratio which has historically been the defining charachteristic of national championship level teams. The percentage of blue chip players is still growing to. Right now we are in the 50s and hope to be eventually in the 70s.

Also, I've seen Heupel develop as both a playcaller and in his in-game philosophy. He still needs to clean up the details and I don't care for the conservative approach he implements at times. But I'm.akso of the belief he is actively fine tuning himself and that he could be a championship coach.

No one is a championship coach until they are. I admit that I once had the same assessment of Fulmer -- until he proved me wrong.

Not sure what Kiffin has to do with a discussion about championship coaches.

He has flaws like any other coach but he's the best youve had since fulmer and revived this program from a down period. Aslong as he keeps us in the playoffs you ride with him and hope he finally puts it all together 1 year. People said the same thing about Day and Harbaugh until 1 year they got it done.

We have a severe case of "back-up quarterback syndrome" with coaches where we seem to think that we can just lure any coach we want to Tennessee. Even if Heupel is the next Richt after what we've been through since 2008 I'd take a few seasons of 10-2 or 11-1 even if it means we don't win it all. At least it's a respectable product, fun to watch and makes the job more attractive for the next guy.

Did op not watch kiffin underperform tremendously this very day? He was a huge favorite (33 points!!) against a weak team, and squeaked out a 3 point game. That’s really his MO, since his time with Carroll at USC— win the big games where he hypes up his players then play way down against terrible teams.

Meanwhile Tennessee only missed the spread by a td.

I don't think you, or the majority of people who rage on this board after games, has any idea what a championship caliber coach even is.

Most of y'all out here sniffing paint, probably thinking every coach should be Nick Saban, who by the way still made decisions that fan bases would rage about, but his occasional dumb decisions were generally covered up by the fact that Alabama had the most talented roster in the country every year.

To win a championship you need the talent, good coaching and a lot of luck. Ryan Day was considered a choke artist and damn near every Ohio State fan in the country wanted him fired after their loss to Michigan last year along with every other fan base clowning him/OSU, only for him to go on and win the national title. Do you think he went to bed one night as not a championship caliber coach then randomly woke up the next as one?

Employ a coach who gives you opportunities to win titles. Heupel is doing that. Hopefully everything else falls in to line and he gets a trophy or two before he either retires or his tenure runs its course here.

seriously don't understand how people who actually pay attention to this game don't see that each week poses a different challenge, and these corches are having to do it in the era of NIL/Portal/Players outright refusing to play in Bowl games

How anybody thinks they can use transitive approaches is mind blowing

People who sit down with a schedule and say ok I see four wins, for example.....equally foolish because you never know about issues like personal problems, illness, injuries, NIL jealousy, crazy family drama

I would not want to be a coach in this new era of NIL and the Portal

We are 5-1. Right now that is all that matters. And we gon get better.

I never thought I would ever say that I dread playing Alabama next week, at Alabama. If we cannot slow down the run game against Arky, perhaps we need to stay home next week.
