If Vols dropped football what team would you follow?

I've always loved my VOLS.... hypothetically speaking though..... I grew up as a young kid when Nebraska and Colorado were top dogs and I still enjoy and root for them 🌽 🐃

Interesting question. I've always liked Clemson since my HS is the Tigers and we get a lot of our gear from them. But switching to them would be a complete bandwagon move. I like going to Purdue games and I used to have Maryland season tix. But I would also want a team who could at least have an occasional chance to compete for titles. No Penn or Ohio State.

I really dont know. Short list LSU, Washington, Arizona State, Clemson, Maryland, Purdue.

LSU probably wins out

Ohio state.

Lived in columbus 17 years and went to osu.

Just can't root for them because the conference is a joke. Every week it was like watching them beat a high school team.

All I've really known is Tennessee. It's the only team I feel connected to because it's where I was born. I have no allegiance to any other college or professional teams in any sports. Don't really keep track of anyone else. Barely ever watch the NFL or NBA or other pro sports. I probably know more players in the NBA though, than I do football. Also maybe because I do at least like playing sports related video games and making teams.

That being said though, if I had to choose some other teams to get interested in for college football in particular...it'd probably be UAB Blazers or Ole Miss. UAB because I thought it was cool and respected when they were losing their program and seeing how much it meant to the players/fans. I couldn't help but wish them the best. I like their fight song too.

Ole Miss is just a random choice. Maybe I just like them a bit because Kiffin is there. I do like their colors and their uniforms. Rebels is a cool name too.

And that is if we're only talking football. If the football team alone just got dropped, I'd still be supporting the Vols. Most likely the basketball team, like I already do.

Always liked this video of our Pride of the Southland Band playing UAB's song for them:

Then why are you posting on here. I guess you posting here is your way to continue your negative attitude.
First, Tennessee has not dropped football.
Second, I was in no way negative at all.
The OP posed a simple question...what team, or product, would you follow if Tennessee, your current favorite product, no longer offered football?

My simple response was that I would refrain from viewing or following said product and used the analogy of my favorite fast food chicken sandwich...nothing negative at all.

If I had to choose a team to root for if UT ever got rid of their football program, I think I would choose a team that was within a reasonable driving distance from me so I can see some games live (I’m in Franklin). If distance was an issue I’d choose between Clemson, Auburn, Miss State, and Ole Miss (my dads family is from Mississippi). If distance wasn’t a factor, I’d add Oklahoma, Nebraska, and A&M.

Only college team I have ever cared for is the Vols. But since t-a-r-g-e-t-i-n-g became a thing? That is a portion of the game I never accepted. It was like cramming political correctness into the game, and being PC sucks. Some of you guys have bought into the narrative. That was your choice. Perhaps you bought the sales pitch. I turned a deaf ear.

So, for that reason, if Tennessee were to drop football? I will further my following of the Green Bay Packers, I will devote more time to the NHL with my fandom focused on the Colorado Avalanche. A side of MLB games with the Kansas City Royals as my personal favorite. And my strongest focus on Aussie Rules football and the Sydney Swans. Might even catch Rugby when I get the chance.

Will hate if this happens. But I will survive it. I may shed a few tears, but I will cope.

I probably wouldn't follow another team like I do UT.

I would watch some games, but never give another team the dedication and passion I have UT.

UT is the state school, the flagship so to speak. Being a vol fan has always been a source of pride to me and that's why the last 13 years have sucked so bad. I hate to see the program in the state it's in.

I would probably just go back to watching more NFL. I grew up an NFL kid. I really didn't become a fan of the Vols or college football in general until I was around 19 when I went to see my first game at Neyland.
