If UT loses to UF......

I see us beating the Non Conference teams on the schedule, ETSU, UTEP, UNCC. I also see us improving to the point that we beat Vandy & Ky.
That puts us at 5 -7, which is an improvement over last season. Then next season, we will, at a minimum, win 8 regular season games. With automatic losses to Florida & Alabama....

I think if they cant beat UF and they go into the Kentucky game at 3-6, they still will fight because 6-6 is within reach. But if Kentucky wins, I dont see them having the heart to Beat Mizzou or Vandy because there wont be anything to play for and they will want to rest their key players and prevent injuries for next season. I dont see them beating Vandy anyway because its a road game.

so really, key game #1 is UF and key game #2 is UK. If they win both of those, I can see them rallying to beat Mizzou and maybe Vandy and finish 7-5. If they lose both to UF and UK, I say they go 3-9.

not in NC, SC and large parts of GA and East TN. just sayin'.

I can not argue with this statement. You all in the path stay safe!

I’m not sure how anyone who has seen us play could possibly think we will beat Florida or Kentucky. We are not very good and it stinks but the bleeding will soon be over.

Resting players for next season? You really assert that with a straight face? Come on man be serious.

You may very well see another 0-8 SEC season.

I'm already on record as saying UT wont win a road SEC game this year. After seeing UF get thumped by Kentucky on their own field, I see one of two possibilities...

We beat UF and UK and go on to have a nice 7 win season or we lose to both of them and Vandy too and go 0-8 in the SEC again.

I think UF, UK and VU are our only viable SEC wins this year. If UF beats us, watch out.
JG does not have to get better quickly, he’s been fine so far this year in the limited throws he’s made. So far he’s 27-36 on the year with no interceptions and a couple TD’s. He’s in no danger of losIng the starting job, I don’t know why you would say that.

What if we don’t lose?

I expect this team to improve weekly. Although I have no faith in anything above a 5 win season, I do look for Pruitt to make the team competitive. Who knows, maybe we can steal one along the way.
Bingo. I’m not having any expectations and just going to enjoy the season for what it is. I’m going to watch the marquee matchups each week, cheer on my Vols win or lose, appreciate the improvements as they come and know that we are on the right track. Now year 3 will be a different story.

Butch did it. and also players basically quit playing because they didnt want to get hurt and risk their NFL chances. why do you act like this doesnt happen all the time?

Uh Oh, I am worried now, you are on record with your predictions. Don't worry we will be watching. GO BIG ORANGE!!!!!

Good logic. I remember the season that Fulmer was fired, we lost to Wyoming. No one really cared at that point. No bowl game for 2008 season.

Because it doesn’t happen all the time and you proved that it doesn’t when you tried to qualify it using Butch.
That was just a bad idea backing up a bad idea.

You like our chances in a shootout? Lol, that etsu game got you that fooled?
Well.. let me rephrase lol.. I don’t think we will be able to stop their passing game. I see them scoring 30+. So what I should have said is the only way we’re winning that game IMO is by beating them in a shootout. And I think we will be able to score on them without much resistance.

Unless we play a bend don’t break style and play excellent red zone D.

I’d love to win that game but I don’t think that it’s so or die. It’s a long season and a lot of things could happen. Injuries could deplete some teams, some teams get worse, some teams get better...you never know.
Yes it is. It's about the next decade. WE HAVE TO BEAT THEM TO KEEP THEM DOWN. We lose to them at home when we are both in transition it will affect everything. We can steal recruits from the hottest state for talent that there is if we can thump them. I say we onside kick it, fake punt it, 4 down territory across the 50. Throw deep all day long. Anything to smoke them. It means everything!

Resting players for "Next Season"???? Does that work? I guess if we look at Alabama, we'd find they have a good season every other year...… After last year's "Rest", you'd think we'd be unstoppable-I mean a naty would be a sure bet! The facts are: jones is GONE(thank God), CP is a Football coach and will try to win every game, we will get better- fast, it will not take 5 years. Saturday night, the El Paso fans will be shell shocked. No matter how well the vols do(yards rushing or passing), there will some that won't like it. If we get 400yds passing, we'll hear, "Need work on the passing game", 400 yards rushing,we'll hear, "Missed some easy extra yards....."

We dont know exactly where we stand vs florida just yet. If colorada st gives fla trouble,we will have a better idea of just how bad they are. Ky is not a horrible team. I can see them winning up to 7-8 games regular season.

I agree. you wont be able to call it one way or another on Pruitt until most/all of Butch's players are off this team and Pruitts entire system is in place with his recruited players.

the Vols being bad this year isnt a reason to speak poorly of Pruitt unless you begin to see things that clearly arent right (which you could see with Butch because that dude had a list of excuses drawn up before his plane ever landed in Knoxville). Pruitt isnt that way though. He's already taken full responsibility even though most of the blame lies with the guy who never took the blame ever.

I’m thinking the same now. A team that fits Pruitt’s style takes 4-5 years to build to completion when you’re talking power running pro style coupled with a strong and fast 3-4 defense. You need big, strong, fast guys to make it work.

If he does dumbsh1t stuff like Butch did then we’ll know much earlier.

Hate to be a pessimist, but if we do lose to Florida, nearly the worst team in the SEC, and at home, I'm thinking this will be a 3 win season.

However, I think we have a good shot at beating Florida. If we beat Florida in a dominating fashion, 8-4 isn't out of the question. If we eek out a close win, we have a very good shot at bowl eligibility.

I've found that there are always those who always have something negative to say no matter what. We all knew it would be a rough season, but it seems like several people area already deciding to give up when there is still a game to play before the gaTurds come to town.
Sure the coaches have to look for the negatives to get the players to work on, but that's their job. Why can't we just enjoy the fact that Big Orange football is back and cheer our team on?
