Losing to Florida automatically means an 0-8 season for starters. That's how somebody started out this thread. Wonder who that was.
It worked! Some guy sent me $10 mil. He thought I was a prince. Thanks for the adviceI never said it "automatically mean 0-8" I said "You may very well see another 0-8 SEC season. " It's literally been quoted 100 times in this thread, but you missed it somehow?
If you think that means some kind of guarantee, then You may likely be wired one million dollars in the next 10 minutes if you hold your breath starting.....now.
Beating Florida this year is like the first time UT beat USC jr under Lyle. Everybody lined up to sniff his jock strap because we be a traditionally terrible team that we should beat every year. It was dumb then and will be dumb now. Those were the days when only a few of us could see through Lyle's crap.
News flash, Teddy Roosevelt just tied a dead aligator to a tree and asked UT to shoot it. It litereally cant get any easier than it is now. And I find myself saying that every single year, but it keeps getting easier and easier.
You may very well see another 0-8 SEC season.
I'm already on record as saying UT wont win a road SEC game this year. After seeing UF get thumped by Kentucky on their own field, I see one of two possibilities...
We beat UF and UK and go on to have a nice 7 win season or we lose to both of them and Vandy too and go 0-8 in the SEC again.
I think UF, UK and VU are our only viable SEC wins this year. If UF beats us, watch out.
Your prediction doesn't account for the fact that Tennessee should improve as the year goes on. We have a real coaching staff now. This team will improve as the season progresses.
so what is your prediction of 0-8 if we lose? is that a wish/hope too?I dont understand. Saying that they SHOULD improve is not a fact. Its a wish. you hope to God they improve. If you're saying that they will in fact improve, well thats a prediction.
I'm not counting on anyone improving beyone the UF game. I havent seen a UT team improve as the season progressed in many many years. I think teams peak about week 3 of a season. If you havent figured it out by then, it's probably not gonna happen once you consider the attrition due to injuries and just fatigue of the season.
Ok. I see it differently because of where we are. I think either would be signature for this year. But I do agree we wouldn’t reference either when talking about career defining wins. The only possible signature wins this year would be Bama, UGA or Auburn. Beating UF or USC would be a big win, but not outside of the realm of actually happening.
I think it is a bit different considering USCjr was a ranked team. Although we went 5-7 that year that win sparked hope that Butch could turn the program around. I, myself, was not sold that Butch was a bad coach until his 3rd year. I think you can't tell much of anything about a new coach during the first year, so I guess you are right that we should not get our hopes up. As an example, Kirby's first year at Georgia was nothing special. In fact, they regressed the first year from Richt. I am not at all saying Pruitt will be on the level of that hire, or on the level of any other hire, but the jury is still out.Beating Florida this year is like the first time UT beat USC jr under Lyle. that was a lower case monumental
and yes, I believe it could be the difference between 3-9 and 7-5 seasons. Momentum and confidence is everything.
