I don't think it will change much. I'd really like to see a good bowl win to help us build momentum into next year. I think it could help some of our young guys and give us something to build on. Plus the VN will be a much happier place :p

It is whatever you want it to be....This is a year of controversy and glimmer....how many successful seasons have we have since the 98 season....Success is not all about Records...and it can be measure against many standards....

i said before this year starated that this year would resemble last season. so far, it pretty much has lived up to my billing. the only difference between now and then was i didn't see FL losing three conf. games. it was a bonus to play for the SEC title, but if we lose the bowl game, this year is no different than last year.

win it, and at least we end ona positive note and with what would appear to be some momentum heading in to the off season.

If we lose this bowl game IMO it will be no better possibly worse than last season.

Considering the type of season this has been for the entire NCAA, with Ohio State being the exception, I'd say this season was allright regardless. Of course I hope they win against Wisc.

Lets see, getting killed by Fla and Bama. Being dominated by an average Cal team and finishing with one more loss than last year.

Yeah give CPF a raise and extension.

IMO your only as good as your record:

9-4 (.692) 2006
9-5 (.600) 2007 (if UT loses the bowl game)

Essentially, when its all said and done, they will have lost to the National Champions in the SECCG. That is not too depressing regardless of how the fan base feels about losing to BAMA/FLORIDA/ or a crappy Cal team. Beat Wisc. and look to next season with your head held high.

like i just said in another thread............i sure hope LSU wins now, otherwise this loss will have been utterly meaningless.

the satement was basically the same, hence the similar retort.

i don't care that we may have lost to the national champions. we did that last year too.

my point is.........we lost. spinning it at this point reeks of desparation.

it's not personal against you or anyone else......just the comment that got me.

I understand, and I know its sucks when you look back and see the losses to the rivals and then the disappointment in the seccg, but, they are in a good bowl against Wisc. No more, no less. It is what it is and feeling sorry for losing those other games wont do anything.

I just hope for the day that the program
is on the rise and not falling or at a stand
still we can do better.

This is a dumb question. The obvious answer is no! Losing by huge margins to our two archrivals, choking in the SECCG, and then losing another 2nd-rate bowl game. That's definitely less successful than last year.

if we lose the bowl game this year will be a major step backward. what have done this year? yes we played in Atlanta, but we lost. we were embarassed by UF, Bama, and Cal, so what is there to be positive about? Im not sure we can count on UF losing 3 conference games every year. Hmmmmm, maybe I missed it, is that why Phil's getting a raise and extension? He's discovered a way to guarantee UF loses to 3 other SEC teams every year. That's the ticket.

Well we can't have that.

IMO this season is already less successful than last year, regardless of what happens in the bowl game. Winning the East was a nice bonus, and one that certainly looked improbable back in October, but still: 100-37. Plus we got drilled by 6-6 Cal and couldn't finish off an LSU team that was severely depleted by injuries. Last year, we had talking heads on TV calling us "the best one-loss team in the country" as late as the South Carolina game. There hasn't exactly been much positive buzz about our team this year from the opening kickoff in Berkeley.

I'm enormously proud of the heart our team showed this season; after Alabama, I fully expected them to fold up like we did in 2005. I was very wrong. But all that heart can't ultimately make up for the fact that we're just not very good.

I think the only positive this season compared to last is we have more young talent to look forward to with Berry, Jones, Creer, and Taylor. As far as the season as a whole though no different or may be even less than last year due to the two blow outs to Bama and UF.
