If UT loses---ramifications?

Please explain how you plan on scoring, half of FCS has a more effective running game than you guys.

we've played tough run defenses but u guys cant throw the ball to save your life i think that AUBURN is gonna expose the UT D and then SC is going to find a way to expliot that on our gameday

Exploit which part of our defense?
I hate to tell you this, but they could expose our run defense all day long and I don't think any team left on our schedule with the exception of Alabama would be capable of taking advantage of it.

Least of all you guys.

Your defense is pretty good... but your guys are going to have severe trouble running against anyone in the SEC consistently. Just don't see Garcia doing very well when teams are able to focus solely on pressuring him and coverage.

And RE: tough run defenses... you've played two middle of the road defensive teams, a Sun Belt team, and an NC State team who appears to have a good run defense... but gave up comparable numbers to Gardner-Webb.

if u guys lose to auburn you guys are gonna be easy picking for south carolina baby

You're right, Garcia is going to look terrific w/ 100,000 people screaming at him. I don't trust him to handle the pressure throwing the ball at Maryville High School let alone Neyland. You guys run game is very limited, Ole Miss (whose D is not as good as ours) did very well against the run. USClite is a W on the schedule.

You must be a genius. Oh no, I meant complete fool. My bad. I can't wait for our defense to hit the south carolina girly men square in the jaw and welcome them to Neyland.

What would it mean should Auburn win Saturday?

That Auburn is ahead of UT in the re-building process?
That Auburn made a better hire then first thought with Chizik?
That Auburn just has UT's number? 4 straight.
That we should think less of going to a bowl and focus more on the next recruiting class?
That UT is likely headed for a 5 win season?
Or that Tubbs out-recruited Phil the last 3-4 years?

I made a change relating to the Cheez-it hire but the bolded points make the better reality if auburn were to win tomorrow.

I hope phil suffers from a bad case of acid-reflux. he put this program in the crapper for a while.

A loss will be another indicator of how phil fulmer's recruiting in the last 2-3 years totally sucked!

Our depth chart is an indictment of the Fulmer regime. I am more than content in giving CLK 2 years to build a dynasty. That being said...we really need to beat Auburn.

Actually, most reasonable fans knew this was a 3 year plan. Just too much in the dumper to recover any quicker.

we should think about not going to a bowl game and that Phil was out recruited

I'm curious. I see lots of comments about our "cupboard being bare" and such, regarding recruiting in the last years leading up to Kiffin. Crompton was a parade all-american and highly recruited coming out of HS. If he had developed like you would expect a parade all-american to normally develop, would there be so many comments about a lack of talent on this current team?

And before you flame me for asking, no I'm not a fulmerite. I think his time had ended and the program had gone stale. But I don't think the cupboard is as bare as some make it out to be... except at QB... which is a slightly crucial position {{sarcasm intended}}.

Isn't Tennessee just 2 years removed from playing for the SEC championship? Your coaches and players could not have been too bad.

Auburn has a high school moron running their offense, he's a joke.

If his offense is so good why isn't run anywhere else?

It's run at Auburn because because they have the Cheesewiz coaching them.

Tennessee 48 Alabama high 13.
Unless Berry has about 3 pick-6s, then there is no way we put up 48 on Auburn.

Someone put up a list of all the 4 and 5 star prospects in the last several classes that are no longer on the team... even when he did recruit well, they tended to wash out. Right now we are about as talented as Auburn... except at QB obviously. We used to be the most deep and talented team in the SEC arguably every year(us or Florida).

Now we're 3rd in the East, and about 6th/7th in the conference. There is no way to dispute that... in the mid 90s we could go 2-3 deep everywhere, and did rotate at least 2 at every O/Dline spot except center...

The only place we're deeper at now than we were in the mid/late 90s is at defensive back... and I'm beginning to question how talented the nickel type backs are.

Just out of curiosity, why does all the bad get blamed on Fulmer and all the good doesn't get credited to him. While I wanted a change, I'm not betting the house on Kiffin just yet. Great things are on the way, I hope, and the recruiting looks great, but so far the fans, at least many, seem to have a double standard. Can it be both ways?

Huh?

I credit him for doing a great job for about 10 years, then doing a decent one for about 5 more.

We can't compete when we're pulling in a sub25th ranked class every other season, which had begun to happen... we can't compete when 1/3 of our high regarded classes are gone by their junior year.

This hire was a huge gamble, don't get me wrong... but Fulmer had become a known quantity, and odds are the steady downward slide would have continued. The way things were going, Peyton could have ended up in the Pro Football HOF before we won another SEC title.

But this is the second longest stretch we've gone with an SEC title... and most of that was before Urban Meyer and Nick Saban's teams started embarrassing us every single year.

Huh? You didn't address the question. I am fully aware of the state of the program. That has nothing to do with my question. Please read my post again. I am referring to the current "good" and "bad" within the program including wins and losses. It seems folks are saying if we lose, it's Fulmer's fault, but if we win, he gets no credit (not that I'm saying he should). Is that even possible? Just a question for the experts.....

Great thread JWF! I pick option #1, "That Auburn is ahead of UT in the rebuilding process".

I think our coaches see this game as huge for recruiting. That's why they rested so many starters last week. UT needs to be viewed as the SEC program on the way up! There is no room for Auburn, Miss State, Arkansas, or any other "rebuilding" program. We must squish them like little bugs.
