If they don't appeal this game, I'm done with this

if lincoln makes the EP it doesn't matter.

Exactly my point.......it is all Lincoln's dang fault.....Bray shouldn't have been crying on the sideline......rather he should have been beating Lincoln's head in.......I'm just saying.

If we make the extra point, none of this matters.

If we actually wrap up on our tackles instead of trying to deliver an NFL highlight hit (which is now illegal in the NFL), we might have won in regulation.

If we don't rough the kicker on the field goal, maybe UNC doesn't get a TD in the first OT, and we possibly pull out a win.

If. If. If. If. . . . I'm sick of "if's." I'm sick of watching our bowl games and walking away disgusted. This goes all the way back to Nebraska killing us back in the late 1990's, K-State killing us in 2000, two pathetic performances against the ACC in back-to-back Peach Bowls, not showing up for the Outback Bowl against Penn State, and then getting embarassed by VT last year. Now, we have another one to add to the list.

No excuses. No more "talk." Until this team figures out a way to win when it counts, we'll all just remain fans of a once great program that is struggling to dig itself out of a hole. I'll be with the Big Organge regardless, but this is absolutely pathetic.

as soon as we have a head coach for three years in arow i think we will be back but i totally agree

Sir Orangealot is 100% correct. Anyone saying the refs got every call right don't know what they're talking about. When the offense substitutes the defense should have a chance to substitute as well before they can hike the ball. If UNC hasn't even finished substituting then why did the official mark the ball ready for play. They should have had to waited until they finished substituting then UT should have had a few seconds to substitute as well then the official should have moved away from the ball and allowed a snap.

I actually thought this was a weak argument for the LSU game b/c UT substituted and appeared to be finished substituting when LSU hiked the ball. In this case UNC hadn't even finished substituting so how was UT given time to substitute to match up.

Atrocious officiating and it cost UT the game, end of story. I'm sure CDD will appeal on this basis. I doubt anything will come of it.

I only hope that we will remember this ruling when we need a "4th timeout" near the end of regulation. I bet we don't get the spike with 12+ men on the field!

When Lincoln missed that EP I told everyone in my living room that kick is going to really really cost us at the end of the game......missed EP's are simply pure evil........they need multiple exorcisms to remove that type of :the_finger: demon :naughty: from effecting the outcome of a game.

I'm mad too, but the refs got every call right except for maybe the catch on the sideline. It really hurts right now, but it wasn't the officials. It's a team loss and a failure to be disciplined.

No. Stopping play after the 6yd catch for NC to review really cost us. All it did was help out NC.

I will not even read the other posts and tell you what happened!!! The clock did not start until 3 seconds after the play started which gave them the opportunity to spike the ball! You call the game over and then change it. We won that game and every Vol Fan stand proud until told otherwise

THE END!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the replay showed they spiked the ball with one second and took the penalty. What is the problem? We loss get over it. It sucks I know. Congrats to UNC

Agree. We had plenty of chances to win this game; two equally matched teams. Lots of should-coulda-wouldas for both teams. It's not the end of the world. Lots of mistakes on both sides and lots of missed calls. I saw several holds that weren't called and UT should have gotten a late hit when the runner was laready down that wasn't called near the end of the game. So, you can't just pick and choose which ones you want called and others ignored. Still, I give our guys a lot of credit. I think they played well, well enough to win but it just didn't turn out that way.

I pick UNC subbing with 18 players on the field.

17 when the ball is snapped. The ball should have never been put down for play if the offense was going to sub. They stood around while it was ticking down and decided to sub the last second. Our defense should have been allowed to sub which should have run the clock out with 1 or 2 seconds left.

I'm not really sure either. I think he was saying College Football in general or maybe UT football?!? Not sure but I can understand his frustration.

Oh def just... incomprehensible thread is incomprehensible

the replay showed they spiked the ball with one second and took the penalty. What is the problem?

Because the clock was stopped after the penalty. Since there was an offensive penalty, the clock should have been wound, and with only portions of one second left, they most likely would not have got the play off.

Plus, it was a 15 yard penalty, not a 5.

Plus, since they were substituting, the ref is bound to stand over the ball until the defense gets a chance to sub, too. hence, the clock runs out.

you see? The moment they tried to sub, the game was over.

We were robbed, on so man levels, end of story.

You are very wrong. Try again.

But we didn't, and there were a number of things the refs screwed up including going back on declaration of the end of the game and a final score of 20-17 UT.

This result shouldn't stand by the letter of the law, but it will, and all we're going to see out of this is the NCAA adopting the NFL rule to wind down the clock for pre-snap offensive penalties.

The clock always stops on a penalty. Including jansens hit with less than a min left.that was a first down but it would've saved a few seconds and 15 yds.

The penalty didn't stop the clock on Jackson's hit. Jackson's hit knocked the player out of bounds and that stopped the clock. Even if the player had stayed inbounds, the first down would have stopped the clock until the officials reset the yardage markers.

The offensive penalty for 12 men on the field should have been a pre snap penalty. This means the spike never happened. Once the yardage is marked off and the ball is set the clock starts again. The game should have been over. If i was this incompetent at doing my job, i would be terminated immediately.

I'm afraid govols120 is correct. The refs got all calls right, the catch was iffy but after watching in person and on TV 3 times it was inconclusive. The rule is the rule, and it sucks. What the ref did do wrong is announce the game was over. He should have known he had to review it. This one hurts big time but we can only grow from it.
