If they don't appeal this game, I'm done with this

If we make the extra point, none of this matters.

If we actually wrap up on our tackles instead of trying to deliver an NFL highlight hit (which is now illegal in the NFL), we might have won in regulation.

If we don't rough the kicker on the field goal, maybe UNC doesn't get a TD in the first OT, and we possibly pull out a win.

If. If. If. If. . . . I'm sick of "if's." I'm sick of watching our bowl games and walking away disgusted. This goes all the way back to Nebraska killing us back in the late 1990's, K-State killing us in 2000, two pathetic performances against the ACC in back-to-back Peach Bowls, not showing up for the Outback Bowl against Penn State, and then getting embarassed by VT last year. Now, we have another one to add to the list.

No excuses. No more "talk." Until this team figures out a way to win when it counts, we'll all just remain fans of a once great program that is struggling to dig itself out of a hole. I'll be with the Big Organge regardless, but this is absolutely pathetic.

Amen to this. You said what I was trying to put into words but just to mad to say it right now.

I'm mad too, but the refs got every call right except for maybe the catch on the sideline. It really hurts right now, but it wasn't the officials. It's a team loss and a failure to be disciplined.

I agree, they got every call right they called. But what about the lack of calls they missed! We were held the entire game!

The penalty was correct, but the rule sucks.

How a team can deliberately ignore the rules to spike the ball with time left with too many men on the field and (in a way) be rewarded for it, is a bit mind boggling. It should be like the NFL.

On another note, Bob Davie continues to be horrible.

Icant understand for the life of me why they were basically awarded a second chance at squaring the game when they had too many players on the field. Its like they were able to say we will take the penalty plus get one second to kick a game tying field goal. WTF?! This just doesn't make sense! The game was over when they broke the huddle to spike the ball with too many players on the field.

You can bet that they'll consider adopting the NFL 10 second runoff rule after this bs.

Thank u sir, I was wanting to know where I was thinking of this in another thread. I was praying we could somehow implement it tonight. :() :| :( lol sry on moble.

they spiked it one second left, it was clearly shown

I may be wrong but shouldn't that play been considered to never happen.... just like if they throw a td on that play... it doesn't count they respot the ball and run the clock

If i snap the ball with too many men on the field and then throw a completion, does the completion count? The spike should have never counted. As soon as the ball snapped the play is dead due to the penalty right? How can they get the benefit of a completed play?
this.

One good thing about all of it.
The whining is over for the season.

If they didn't have more than 11 on the field when they spiked the ball I can say at LEAST 3 were moving. That's running off the field.

The problem is they had 12 players participate in the play, so it should have been a 15 yd penalty and a much harder fieldgoal

It is a 5 yard penalty. And they had more like 14 on the field. I agree with the 10 second run off per NFL.

MY 2 cents:

Yep, funny how defense has to many men on the field and it benefits the offense. But if the offense has to many men on the field it benefits..............the offense. Spiked ball should not count with to many men on the field. If that is the penalty, clock should not stop. That is the only way to even that out.

I'm watching my neighbors dogs, so I walked over to let them out, and I thought of all those bowl games too, and how they just continue to pile up..

and they stick with you till next fall

Has my vote and I might add...

If...we don't allow UNC to run the 2min drill in perfetion at the end of the 1st half and score a TD with 24 seconds left

If...we don't allow a 1st down with 3rd and 20; plus not get a PF with less than 40 seconds to go in the game.

They also incurred a penalty (which should have been 15 yards, not 5) which negated the spike. Therefore, the clock should have started when the official marked the ball ready for play. The clock should have hit 0:00 before the snap for the field goal.

The flag was thrown after the spike and the clock still had one second left after he spiked it. They assessed the penalty and had to replay allowing the fg team to kick it. Over and done. We gave it to em not the refs.
