If The Vols Are For Real, UGA Has A Real Problem

What we saw in the second half was actually starting to show in the second quarter. The offense was starting to move the ball more, even though they still kept making drive-killing mistakes, and the defense was starting to settle in and slow them down. Without a few critical mistakes on offense, that would have been a 21-14 or better game at the half.

I remember the offense really struggling in 2009 until late in the game against Auburn. It was like a switch had been flipped and they finally put it all together. It was too late to save that game, but we all saw the offense take off from that point. I think the offense finally put everything together against a good Florida defense and there's a good chance that it becomes the springboard that puts them up at the level they need to be at for the rest of the season.

The defense has been strong in the second half of every game. They just need to find their feet a little quicker so they can be the dominant defense they are capable of being.

Print this: watch and see how much better we play now that Florida is out of the way. Its another game but Georgia just isn't a good football team for a lot of reasons.

Georgia aside... The Florida game was an anchor on us swimming in the middle of the ocean. Dragging us down. We had to overcome that hump. I think this is a dangerous team for anyone. I'm with you a hundred percent. That second half team will be the ones showing up Saturday for 4 quarters. We will take the football, shine it up real nice, turn that sum***** sideways, and stick it straight up uga's candy asses!

I agree. Chaney has pretty much waved the white flag on their rushing attack for the season. UGA's offense now goes through Michel catching screens and swings out of the backfield and McKenzie rushing/receiving the ball. Chaney has decided the UGA offense goes through McKenzie which does not help Chubb's nicks and bruises heal any quicker, you can best believe dat! lol

I understand that everybody needs that go to guy but at the end of the day Chaney and Smart have zero confidence in the other WR. When they need a play everyone in the stadiums knows where its going. If Tennessee takes him away it WILL be another long afternoon for the dawgs.

I love how he mentions that we only beat Georgia last year after Chubb went out

i heard that a lot last week too during the CBJ narrative....like the win didn't count.

conveniently forgetting they were still up 24-3 w/out chubb....soooo

Kirby Smart and coaches will be ready, book it. Notice i didn't mention the players will be though, haha. Go read the mutt forums. It will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. They are a defeated fanbase.

In all seriousness...we win by 3 or by 40. I say that because emotions are high on both sides. GA wants wtfa. TN has moments if being a number one team and being an unranked team. Only Saturday will tell who shows up.

I said it yesterday and ill say it again today. As much as we hate hearing it this team is absolutely resilient. They could have very easily packed it up and just ran the offense in the 2nd half. They took every punch Florida threw and came back with a haymaker. We could argue for days about which catch was the back breaker but I really believe that When Jennings hauled in the sideline catch and still managed to stay in bounds was the back breaker for Florida. The way they played and the mental mistakes took over the game for Florida. This is a testament to the players resolve and the coaching.

Again this is just my opinion.

Now, on to Georgia. If I am wrong I am wrong like the many times before. I doubt anyone has been more critical of Jones and Co than me. If Tennessee has a let down against Georgia a team that by all accounts and fronts Tennessee is better than theres a real internal issue at Tennessee. That said I finally think Shoop has the D dialed in and buying in. I would love to see a little faster start from them but the depth is starting to show up. I frggn love it. GO VOLS.

If I am wrong I am wrong. Tennessee will be wide ass open now that Florida is behind us.

Tennessee Rolls.

Yeah I didn't realize Chub played defense and him being out allowed us to score all of those points

I agree that Florida game was not just another game. I think there is a possobly of another slow 1st half against Georigia due to an emotional hangover....but either way I think beating Florida the way we did will make our team as well as coaches better/looser. It's just amazing what a little confidence will do. I have been critical of debord but I thought he made the most adjustment from half to half hat I have seen from him...(and maybe us catching the ball helped that viewpoint) but nonetheless our team has something to revert to now, they believe a little more now, they've seen themselves be successful against a good SEC team now and I think coaching loose/playing loose is worth a couple of TDs. I'm very happy for Butch and staff cause even though they wouldn't admit...felt a mountain of pressure.
I think Gaulden is key in secondary. Justin Martin didn't play his best but will be a good player for us through the season. Also good for Colton Jumper. This team has taken years off my life but I wouldn't change a thing! GBO

Butch to Kirby over the next few years:

If you have a milkshake... and I have a milkshake... and I have a straw; there it is, thatÂ’s the straw, see? Watch it. My straw reaches across the room... and starts to drink your milkshake: I... drink... your... milkshake!

I drink it up!

Nice Daniel Day-Lewis reference

With Eason and Chaney, in Athens, they are going to sling the ball.

I know that Chaney is a pass happy sling it game plan type guy. That said posters here and the media have made it known that yes Eason has a cannon but he is very inconsistent. They'll lean on the run game and pass when they have to. Eason isn't ready to carry this team.

Vegas is baiting people to go Georgia is what's going on. One of the weirdest spreads I've seen in a long time. It only helps UT to hype up georgia though TBH. Everything falling into place.

Can someone who knows what they are doing make an "A team" meme with Butch saying "I love it when a plan comes together."

How is Vegas baiting people to go Georgia? I think most people are thinking it should be higher for Tennessee, so my assumption would be that most of the money is coming in for Tennessee.

Exactly. They didn't seem too concerned with a 21 point lead they built without him.

Probably going to get to do it again. I doubt he plays Saturday per his injury in the Ole Miss Game, and honestly, he has looked the same since the second game of the season. He didn't look completely healthy to me even before the ankle injury last week.

I've been looking forward to Derek Barnett giving his own personal lessons to Jacob Eason about what it is like to be in the SEC. Ole Miss gave him some pretty good lessons last week. Make no mistake about it, he is going to be a good one at some point, but freshman in the SEC is tough.

One thing about the Vols....we looked unbeatable in the 2nd half of the Florida game. The inconsistency concerns me. That 1st half was gawd awful....and App St. and Ohio shows we have it in us to play that badly. I don't know if this is a team that will all of a sudden start playing consistently good. There's a pattern of being really average-bad..and then being like national championship level good. It makes it exciting I guess not to know wth you're gonna get ...but I can live without that "excitement" in lieu of dominating play.

This Vol team has the ability to annihilate Georgia...and run the table imo. Can they maintain the proper mindset to do it?
