If the SEC were to add four more teams, who would you want to see join the league?

Completely agree they are pro cities but they are still strong, large markets. But the only reason you go to 20 is money. My completely hypothetical 20 is what gets the most money and is Southeastern-ish...

MSU gives you no media markets (Ole Miss covers that). Same with Vandy (we cover that). Nothing national about those brands either.

I know we arent kicking those 2 out but those two are the biggest net negatives in the conference by far. They are the welfare queens of the conference...
There was a documentary many years ago I either saw or read pertaining to Vandy being in the SEC. It stated they have value because they give the other SEC schools a DI win.

Still, how can that be valued when they also lose to ETSU and Middle Tennessee State?

The only people including Memphis have apparently never been there or seen their campus and facilities.

Not sure if you have been over there in last 5-7 years but they have upped their facilities significantly......

They clearly arent high end SEC caliber but they are middle of the pack Big 12, Big 10, or ACC....

Edit -I was referring to practice facilities. The Liberty Bowl is a dump...

Buckle UP Buttercups its inevitable just a question of when. I get your argument, SEC is big enough and its not the SEC anymore yada yada yada. When they expand they need to be selective and go after the best options. And by that I mean not taking in teams like Mizzou. Ultimately your opinion doesn't matter and mine doesn't either but here it is.

1. VaTech
2. Clemson
3. Miami
4. Free Shoes University

UNC and Duke would be cool too taking basketball into account. NC state and Wake Forest would be like adding MSstate 2.0 and Vanderbilt Jr.
Nobody cares about UVA and no WVA for obvious reasons "if youve been to WV you know". GAtech had their chance and left. Louisville, OKstate, Texas Tech, meh no thanks.... Screw Tiger High
"If you've been to WV you know".. what? It is about the same, if not identical, as east TN and not much difference at all. That's why the tailgate between the 2 made such great memories for all involved. East TN mined coal too, yank, you want Miami lmao. I've lived there too and it is a terrible program, FIU is superior

Ohio State
Michigan
USC
The Titans

Let's just rip the bandaid off, turn it in to NFL lite and completely ruin it.

UVA would immediately replace Vandy at the bottom in football — they’re pathetic. VT at least has a good football environment and some history of success. UVA fans are also super pretentious and wear blazers to games. They’d be a terrible culture fit.
This guy knows Charlottesville. Ex was a cheerleader there, every game I would read and use my phone in the end zone grass next to Asian calculus students doing homework and it felt normal. Blazers is correct. It was a get together for rich people to network and exchange business cards. Was drunk at the Richmond game and cheered on 3rd down for fun. No one liked it. They are the antithesis of SEC culture. Would be no different than letting Brown University in.

Back when I was in school, both Bammers and UGAs wore blazers if I remember correctly. Of course that's when the last three games of the season were guaranteed wins: UK, Ole Miss and Vandy.

So what are the biggest benefits for adding 4 SEC teams? 1. Adds new recruiting markets? Do kids really want to play for the SEC first? 2. Improving the SECs brand? Would adding Clemson, FSU, Miami really improve the SECs reputation? Aren’t we already considered the best? 3. Improving other sports ie basketball- Duke, UNC 4. Bring in four more bottom feeders we can beat up on to improve our wins losses? What is the big deal here?

Went there my whole childhood and always wanted to go there. Then as I got older I realized how badly it sucked and that the people were douchebags. Plus B’s get degrees and Tennessee was more my speed anyways lol

lol sorry your offended. I stand on what I said. WV is a good place to be from. It has mountains which is about the only similarity to East TN. It’s closer to Western Kentucky but the people have terrible northern accents. Miami has more money probably than the whole state of WV and for sure has more Championships.

VT's culture is the crucial point IMO. SW Virginia is still very much the south. But once you get past Roanoke metro, your not in the South anymore.

They also pull up the average scholastic rating of the conference.

Plenty of Virginia's still the South, just not NoVa or Hampton Roads with the government transplants.

If we are being realistic, TV viewership has to big the biggest factor as it is the main revenue source.

1. Houston
2. GA Tech?
3. Dip into DFW market and get SMU or TCU.
Next market(s) after that are Florida & North Carolina.

Clemson, UNC, GA Tech & FSU would get my votes today.

I'm mostly referring to what's along 81. There's a bunch of the more rural parts of the state I can't speak to. It stands to reason they have a southern culture. But there isn't a school of note in sports there, or much of anything really.

I'm curious, do you consider Richmond the south? Because I decidedly don't.

If I never go back there again, it will be too soon.

Already have the DFW market adding Oklahoma and Texas. SMU and TCU have really small fan bases.

SMU, TCU both trending up in viewership and followership. SEC racing against B1G for more TV revenue while the lower conferences are hiring entertainment execs to run their conferences. The idea is to get as many eyes on the product as possible and those teams help achieve that goal. I think it's also a matter of how much weight (aka booster money) a program can handle -- Houston is already well on that trajectory. SMU/TTU/TCU have similar weight.
