Major drivers in this is markets, football, and a tiny bit basketball. Mizzou gives you 2 top media markets in STL and KC. MSU gives you 0. Mizzou is better at football. Mizzou is better at basketball. Mizzou is better at academics.

I spend a lot of time in St Louis and Kansas City....They are both pro sports cities and college sports aren't real high on their list. Vandy has Nashville going for it and both them and Miss State aren't going anywhere. Mizzou should have never been allowed into the SEC, IMO.

They need to stop messing around and form a new conference, eliminating Vandy-MSU-UK and adding 15 to 18 of the serious power Schools from the other conferences. Probably 26 to 28 teams, split into divisions, don't play anyone out of conference and have their own National Championship playoff. This is where its heading.

Completely agree they are pro cities but they are still strong, large markets. But the only reason you go to 20 is money. My completely hypothetical 20 is what gets the most money and is Southeastern-ish...

MSU gives you no media markets (Ole Miss covers that). Same with Vandy (we cover that). Nothing national about those brands either.

I know we arent kicking those 2 out but those two are the biggest net negatives in the conference by far. They are the welfare queens of the conference...
