Leach is the kind of dude who can beat Florida by 3 TDs and then lose by 30 to South Carolina. We've gone 20 years without a championship of some sort and that type of coach doesn't strike me as one who can do it. I'd rather some other major school experiment with him. The more I think about Leach, the less I like it.
I also wonder if Doeren was floated as a candidate to smooth over any actual coach we hire following that near miss.
I can find something wrong with just about every candidate who would consider Tennessee at this point. Who's your top candidate?

Fire Currie, push out Haslam, reset the search. Go after Kiffin, Brohm, Taggart and even reach back out to Gruden. There's others, too.
Leach is just a guy whose style I don't think will ever win in the upper levels of college football and that's what we're trying to do here.
Do you think Leach can take us to Atlanta? I mean, that's the real bottom line there. Winning some games and scoring points is nice and fun, but the goal is Atlanta, in the end.
Beats USC, gets drilled by Cal. Beats Stanford, gets drilled by Arizona. Biggest game of the year, gets drilled by Washington. Sorry, I'm not looking for scattered wins against decent teams. I'm looking for something more.
If we do indeed get Mike Leach, our top 2 revenue sports will be in the best shape they have been in since 2007 when we made it to Atlanta and the Sweet 16. Why in the world would you want to hit the reset now?Fire Currie, push out Haslam, reset the search. Go after Kiffin, Brohm, Taggart and even reach back out to Gruden. There's others, too.
