they did with OSU, Vandy, Kentucky, how many teams would beat us? If we play like we did with these 3 teams, is that enough to win the tourney?

It's enough to win the tourny if we have help from some upsets. I dunno that we could beat a 1 seed...but I guess it's possible with the 3 ball dropping.

I think it might be enough to win the SEC tourney. That would mean one pretty big upset over UF. If its NCAA we would have to pull off two or three of these. I feel we can make a run or go first game depends on which team shows up. I think next year is the year we could go deep. Maybe Im wrong though and we do it this year:)

Effort will only get us so far...I love Tennessee and CBP is doing a wonderful job and making basketball relevant again on the Hill but we are lacking a few athletes to win the tournament...:twocents:

finally, someone injected a little sense into this lovefest. We'd have to once in a season upset teams for, at a minimum, 4 straight games

It is not an issue of effort. Tennessee is a team with good guards that are all limited in their own way when matching up with opponents--either small, or inexperienced, or not as athletic-- that all handle the ball and shoot well; they have some very promising, very young forwards; they do not have a true center at all. They make up for their deficiencies with a disruptive style of defense, outside shooting, and spreading the floor to create space and blown assignments.

If UT is shooting the ball fairly well and can force some sloppy play, they can beat good teams and overcome their match-up problems. They probably are not going to be able to that against several good teams in a row, as there are just too many pieces that need to fall into place.

OSU, Vandy, UK, Memphis, Texas, and Ok St. are not elite teams. Yes, we've had some great wins, but none came outside of the state (which is where we'd play), but OSU is streaky at best and won't make it far (they are supremely overrated)- and we lost to them, Vandy is not even ranked any more, UK is really a 20-25 ranked team, Memphis was playing terrible when we got them- according to Bruce, Texas has been in and out of the bottom half of the top 25 all year, and much like us Ok St. cannot win on the road.

Our victories are nice, but we would have to upset at least 3 superior teams within 2 weeks if we were to make it even into the elite 8. We're a little too early on all of this blind optimism.

We can now score more easily than before because every once in a while our big men come to play to the point of actually requiring some defense. Ramar's ability to get to the hole puts an enormous amount of pressure on the D and opens up a lot of shots. We just can't match that the type of D that consistent big game winners can crank up when needed.

So you think we have no chance of making a run? What if there are favorable upsets and we're in a good position like last year, until losing to an underrated Winthrop?

We lost to Witchita State, we barely beat Winthrop if not for Lofton. We had to beat a 15 and a 10 seed to make it to the Sweet Sixteen, that's as favorable as it's going to get

Sorry, yeah, Witchita State. I'm in class so I must have actually been paying attention to that instead of bball.

those could have been the toughest 10 and 15 seeds in a long time tho....and we werent even that great last year....its all about the effort and shots falling...they didnt fall as consistentally as we needed against wichita state...wichita state hit big shots late...it happens

We would have played even harder teams had we been what we should have, a 5 seed.

so ur on the selection committee? we should have been a 5 seed huh? not what the people that count thought i dont guess....and i didnt say we wouldnt have played tougher teams if we were a 5 which we werent and shouldnt have been since we did win the East and beat UF twice...i said those were 2 of the toughest 10 and 15 seeds possibly ever...when usually bein a 2 seed u play teams that r really not that good...Winthrop was better than a 15 seed

So the selection committee is perfect? We obviously didn't deserve the 2 seed seeing as how the games played out. No one besides the committee thought we were a 2 seed, not even Pearl. At least they acknowledged that we were the 4th 2 seed and gave us the hardest draw, but at that point we weren't the 8th best team in the country- period. But I was just saying that we got the most favorable draw we possibly could have hoped for and we still disappointed.
