If someone boasts about how they're gonna knock you out....

You bring yourself more shame by running your mouth after a loss than you do by just taking your medicine.

I understand what you were saying, but the jort wearin' rednecks and media were just too much last week. Sure, it was a 10 point loss, and while I'm not happy, I see which direction Kiffin is going once he gets the HIS players in place.

I'm just talking about the fans. Not the team. Our fans are doing a whole lot of talking like we really WON something. It's embarrassing.

AFL and 2bits have been over here telling us that the game was really a blowout, despite the scoreboard. I'll tell them to shove it all day.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. In no way was I referring to CLK...

Got it. Most of the fan commentary has been good. Hell, we always have the lunatic fringe predicting global titles, even after a 1-2 start.

Well then, I'll make sure I take them off my ignore list Sep 18, 2010.

Me too.

I haven't even read what Lane said back, yet. I wasn't talking about him, period. I don't disagree with a single thing he has done or said to date...

I just saw what the future is going to hold for the Vols, Good coaching and a very physical team. That is cause enough for being excited, even after a loss IMO.

Hmmm...I can't decide if I'm dumber for having tried to understand the point...or smarter because I did...

I agree. Is this the point we've come to in UT football that we celebrate a close loss to Florida. I will never be happy with a Florida loss. It doesnt matter if it was 1 or 100 ITS STILL GOES IN THE LOSS COLUMN. I know we are going into the third season in the last five years that we are going to struggle to make a bowl but I refuse to be happy with a loss. We are headed in the right direction and I'm glad but a Florida loss still pisses me off.

Then you fight them, get beat but not knocked out, it doesn't mean all of a sudden you have a valid argument, or brag about how you didn't get knocked out...
It is even more shameful than just simply taking the loss along with all the big talk that happened beforehand.

As a Buffalo sports fan (who is a closet Volunteer fan...never knew why, just am), I have to listen to crap about moral victories up here all the time, from both our pro football and pro hockey teams.

Moral victories suck.

I was afraid of that...thx

I'm sorry. Really...

Admittedly, the analogy does not fit our football team's situation exactly, and wasn't put together perfectly, but it is TRUE.
On the streets, you don't do that. I guess on the internet it's to be expected. I'm sorry I brought it up....

I think most of the excitement that you might interpret as bragging is because this game served as evidence that this program is turning around, that we have an excellent coaching staff, and that our players will go toe to toe with anyone. No one is excited or bragging about losing. Everyone is excited and confident about the future of Tennessee Football.

Well put. I agree.

I have heard people the past couple of days talking as if we WON. I haven't seen what everybody has written on here, and Volnation is not who I was 'aiming' at...
I was venting about what I've seen and heard. I've heard real bragging, it's ridiculous. We are on our way, and have every reason to be excited, but we just lost to UCLA and didn't get beat too badly by Florida. Let's win first.

Not directed towards CLK or our team in any way...

I disagree, especially in a case where you gave as good as you got. You get a black eye, they get a broken nose. They wake up the next day KNOWING that they don't want to do that again.

That's not shameful. If you'd been having that fight once a year every year and finally you're not getting beat down, then I see no problem with the "we'll see em next year." That means to me, you're looking forward to getting the upper hand....

FAIL! If someone brags that they are going to knock you out (and they are the reigning champ, while you're not even ranked), and all the pundits are betting on an early knock out, and you hang in there with the champ....toe to toe, the full 10rds and come close to pulling off the upset...you've done something and deserve more respect than what you came in with.

Try again.

Truth. As a Bama fan it hurts to admit it, but the Vols looked upsettingly good Saturday. You guys are one position away from being a contender. I'm actually hoping you get better at QB, because, let's face it, Bama and UT made the SEC. I would rather beat TN than beat U of Gainesville any day of the week. Beating UF is like a summer vacation in Florida. Cheap, overrated, and it smells like ****.
