Are you watching the same games? Leaving AJ Johnson all alone in the middle of the field while calling so many dime formations, then asking him to shed OL blocks all the time (which he isn't very good at) and then make a tackle on the RB that has a 5 yard running start is Sunseri's doing.
Asking our horrid DB's to play so much man-to-man when they are incapable of it technique-wise and don't have the speed is Sunseri's doing.
And if you can honestly still act like he deserved to call another game after calling a single safety man defense on 3rd and goal from the 26 against South Carolina, then you know zilch about football. A minimally competent DC would know to call a 2-safety, keep everything in front of you formation on that play.
Sunseri is completely lost when it comes to in-game playcalling (which is 100% indisputable at this point) and he has no ability to teach kids to learn a few basic defenses to allow them to get confident with a few different play calls. He has thrown everything in the world at them and they are beyond confused. And now that they can't get anything right, I don't believe the majority of them think they can successfully defend anyone. That lays at the feet of a horrible DC.
Anyone who has had moderate success calling a defense would immediately make them marginally better, and Conklin fits that bill. Why he wasn't let go after South Carolina just speaks to Dooley knowing if he does that he is digging his own grave. Not like it matters, though, I think that started about 3 weeks ago.
Sunseri will never get a job at even a junior high level calling a defense for the rest of his life. Hell, he will be lucky to get a LB coaching job after this season since our LB's have shown zero improvement at all, and that's supposedly his forte.
