I would say the Berry threads would be the largest two threads on here. I read the services too but it is just their opinion.

I just don't think the apple falls far from the tree. It's still the same bloodline. IF they are 3/4 as good as Eric, we will have two special players. I just think we are underestimating them. Just have to find their natural positions. Remember, EB was ranked the no 1 CB, not safety.

I really wouldn't care if they both had two/one stars beside their names. The Berrys are UT royalty to me. I would still want them.

The berry twins are ballers and if you think they are not worth a scholarship you are crazy... They might not be EB but name me another safety that is????? They have the potential to be great and if their last name was anything beside berry I would still say the same thing..... Not pointed a the OP

Can't believe 3 peope liked this post. Incredibly insane take on recruiting imo.

Yup, I completely agree. Personally I don't care for rankings period because they are too political. Watching the film that's out there on them and they are no where near the player their brother was.

I think we should still take them, but if there is a numbers crunch there are multiple guys I would take before them

How does this make any sense to you? Lets give scholarships to anyone who is related to a vol great?

To provide loyalty now and lose......is much greater...because in the end....you win!

You take this free advise in life and you will win. Integrity and loyalty come hand in hand majority times. Search it, find it, and you will have a healthy life style.

Good luck!!!!

If recruiting services didn't exist, most on here would be crying about how we took a LB who only had an offer from Temple ... oh wait

This is just stupid and sometimes the apple falls very far from the tree

these two seem to be good prospects so it is worth it to offer but for that reason only

i could care less who they are related to

If recruiting services didn't exist then this thread wouldn't exist and I wouldn't have just wasted another 2 minutes of my time.

So what you're saying is it is ok to preach family and loyalty as long as it goes our way? The last thing in the world I would want to happen to our program is for James or Eric to be upset or be bitter towards UT because we didn't offer their sons.

The stars don't mean anything in the end. All that matters is what these boys do on the field. If they are good players it will show. There have been 5* players turn out to be busts and 3* players become all-pro at the next level

This is really a non issue because most will agree that they are takes on their own. I'm just saying that having a happy Eric Berry on the sidelines during games/ spring games is so positive for our program, that it is worth two scholarships.

It would be a lot more boring during the dark period until Fall practice starts. There were no recruiting services in the 1980s and a lot of the 90s and it did get boring.

Assuming they are D1 athletes... Yes, yes we do.

How many players woulds come in with that much fan support in their pocket? Also, how bad do we look after we let them go somewhere else and they turn out to be even just decent? The Berry family would be done with us, and it would leave the entire fan base bitter at the coaching staff.

But all of that aside.. Have you ever seen them play? They are the leaders if that team.. They are that team. Even at their tweener size they can obviously play SEC ball.

We get other three stars and people say "Don't look at stars". Now we have a 3 and a 4.. Along with the clear and obvious reasons they should play here, and they aren't good enough?

Sorry, I guess Michael Palardy is worth a scholly, but some solid starters (atleast) with a royal Vol pedigree are not good enough.

It's stupid

So your saying to take a hard line stance and recruit kids who may not be talented enough to compete at an SEC level just to make their family happy?

Sorry, but in the real world people get paid well to do a job. And for the coaching staff, AD,etc it's measured on success. So if that means hurt feelings from time to time, so be it. Most athletes and former athletes know the score. This isn't grade school where you worry about a kids feelings. This is a kids transition into being an adult and learning the valuable lessons they can take through life about earning a spot instead of being given a spot.

Now I look at the Berry brothers film, offer list, etc. and believe they are good enough to play at an SEC level. But it has nothing to do with who their father and brother is. It helps that there is a connection, but they still have to earn offers from other shools just like every other kid.
