If Pruitt stays

I just left the barbershop and one of the Offensive Tackles was there. I asked him about the situation. He said he doesn’t have a clue. However, did say was a lot of angry people.

First time I can remember Tennessee having a coach go into a legitimate lame-duck season. Usually a tough ask to get quality coaches to jump onto a sinking ship.

You've got a good attitude about it, and should be commended.

Put me in the grumpy old curmudgeon category. I have always found Pruitt, and Muschamp, viscerally unpleasant and wholly unlikeable. I don't want to like him, and I'm not trying to like him. He's not a Volunteer, he's is only an overpaid, underperforming employee. And I don't mean that in an Orange-blooded, born and raised here, alumni sort of way. I mean I don't believe he has any love for this place outside of the paycheck he receives. After the year we've seen, his visible disdain for the media, and now the apparent embarrassment of a recruiting fiasco with NCAA implications, I don't want to see him succeed...I want him as far away from the program as is humanly possible. I think he casts us all in a bad light.

The bad news is, I don't think that happens for another year. We are that dysfunctional.

So what are you going to do if he does come back and the team performs remarkably better in 2021? As a Vol fan, I sure would hate to be in a position of being mad that they were winning.

I am not going to debate with you the likelihood of such a thing happening because we may be arguing from the same side of the fence, but I am not so obtuse as to completely ignore the possibility. That whole blind hog thing, and all....

We might as well buckle up for another 3 seasons of Pruitt. By allowing him to survive this season, we're basically hitting the reset button on the rebuild with the same head coach.

2021 - You going to fire him if he goes 7-5 after being 3-7 the previous year? No, and this team will be plenty good enough to that next year, especially after Bailey & Shrout finally get reps with the ones during the Spring.
2022 - 8-4/9-3... beats everyone except our 3 rivals... Fulmer going to fire him? We kept him after going 3-7 and 7-5 why wouldn't we keep him after going 9-3?
2023 - We lose steam again and have a year similar to 2020.

6 years of Pruitt.

We aren’t going 7-5 next year. 6-6 at best.

Oh I. don't disagree. Pruitt and Muschamp are birds of the same feather. Grumpy and don't have a likable attitude. I just think if Pruitt gets to add Muschamp to the staff (meaning Pruitt gets Year 4), that's a staff upgrade.

Regardless of how I feel about Pruitt getting a Year 4 or not, I want to see Tennessee win big.

I grew up watching Tennessee Football as a kid. We were a force to be reckoned with then. One of my parents retired from Tennessee. So I'm extremely optimistic that Tennessee will not let our cherished Football tradition die.
It would be nice to come back to the glory years but the last 12 years sure does not show it.

He would have had his eyes pounded shut in the ACC, SunBelt, or MAC just like he has in the SEC. Either you are a head coach, or you're not. Game prep, scheme, personnel decisions, and in game coaching translate whether you are coaching highs school or college. The only thing that changes is the players.

We have our answer.
You have got to be kidding. The ACC is a joke outside of Clemson. When we beat down Pitt next season you will see.

It's going to be the same situation as the Butch Jones era. His last season he had to make several staff changes in order to save his job and everyone knew it. Therefore, the coaching pool who would actually be interested is slim because they know he's a dead man walking.

I wouldn't expect any program altering hires. Probably some young guns from his past if anything.

Dude we got blown out by Kentucky at home. Lost to a first year coach with an Arkansas team that went 2-10 in back to back years. It ain’t happening and Pruitt ain’t the guy.
We are set up to win at least 8 games next season. If we do that does that change things in your mind? Again, why people expected more wins against this schedule with this QB and team I don’t know. I have no problem making a change of it’s for a guy like Freeze. But it needs to be Freeze of it is done because I think Pruitt wins that many next year.

Not sure what that has to do with what I said. Us vs the ACC is not apples to apples. Pruitt coaching in the ACC vs ACC is.

We all do, and that isn't ever happening with the Thumb at the helm. That much is evident.

8 wins? Lol okay where do you see 8 wins?

Between Bowling Green, South Alabama and Vandy we might get to 3 wins next year. Definite loses are Bama, Florida, UGA and probably Ole Miss unless our defense greatly improves. Kentucky, USCe and Missouri are toss ups. And we already know how well Pruitt does against first year coaches. At best we’ll be 6-6 next year.
