If Pruitt stays...

If Pruitt is not fired, who needs to be replaced on the staff?

I think the following individuals need to be gone.... Chaney, Friend, and Wienke. Replacements and staff position changes would be the following:

Head Coach - Jeremy Pruitt
Co-Offensive Cord./Quarterbacks/Asst. Head Coach - Tee Martin
Co-Offensive Cord./Tight Ends- Joe Osovet
Defensive Cord/ Defensive Backs- Derrick Ansley
Running Backs/ST Cord.- Jay Graham
Wide Receivers - Bryan McClendon (Oregon/Former Georgia/South Carolina)
Offensive Line - Ed Warinner (Michigan/Former Ohio St.)
Defensive Line- Brick Haley (Missouri/Former LSU)
Outside Linebackers- Shelton Felton
Insider Linebackers/Recruiting Cord.- Brian Niedermeyer
Secondary/Safeties- Aazaar Abdul-Rahim (Maryland/Former Alabama)
Fire the entire coaching staff and move forward. Don't put off the inevitable.

Another thread title that instantly brings to mind another 80’s song
If you leave
I won't cry
I won't waste one single day
But if you leave, don't look back

If they aren't firing Pruitt due to $$$ then it makes no sense to pay anyone else's buyout.
Worse than paying the buyouts of this group of assistant coaches is that you'd have to offer their replacements multi-year contracts to come here. Then, you would also have to pay their buyouts when you inevitably fire Pruitt next year.

No one worth writing about is going to come here to work for a dead man walking / lame-duck coach for just one season. I thought Mike Bobo going to USCjr was a questionable move last offseason because he was not really going to get the time he needed to install his offense.

I vote for no staff changes. Pruitt has been giving a crap ton of money for staff and staff changes already, including not being able to wait until after the season to fire the DL coach, costing the University several hundred thousand dollars. Either fix what you have or hit the door in 2021. #NoNewBuyouts

31-19...and you never got the sense we were ever really in it. New blood at the QB position helped, but even that decision is fraught with questions over how it was handled. Certainly nothing was done by the staff to dispel any negative impressions.

Maybe just me, but it was a boring game, and I think even Florida players were bored. Look like both teams just went thru the motions. They could have been ripe for an upset because I do not think they took TN serious at all. With right coach, game plan, and motivation it could have been at least a competitive game. All Florida was interested in was stacking Trask's numbers and getting to the title game.

Or...Florida could have not sleepwalked through the game, and blown our doors off. Guess it could have gone either way.

Can anyone think of a time someone went into an off-season with "Fix your staff or you are fired next year" and didn't get fired the next year? Or by some miracle actually turned it around for the long term?

In other words who cares. Next year is kind of like a rebuilding year but the opposite. A demolition year. We have to completely destroy what we have before we can start rebuilding. Because incompetence.

Brian Kelly at ND is the only one I can think of recently that was successful with a complete staff overhaul.

I understand the O sucks but Chaney is the longest running coach with any success in this league. I understand why people want him gone. I feel like he was given the keys to a 4 cylinder and told to win Talladega. The man did not forget how to call plays.

Chaney is not the problem IMO. Weinke should definitely go, he has a track record of underdevelopment. Offensive Line has been disappointing, so likely need new blood there. If they continue to make ignorant calls during the game, it won't matter who's in there. We seem to have become a practice team. Practices well at least according to the staff and sucks in games.

Well if you are going to keep Pruitt then might as well keep all staff, except the ones with contract ending. Myself I would fire all of them

Replace everybody, including Pruitt. Another year of this guy is rediculous.

I
2 things with your summation:
1) For the love of all things, let's get Nieds off D and back onto the Offense
2) Co-OCs ???...NEVER have I seen anywhere that has worked at all...pass

It worked at lsu last year but that was truly an exception.

It does not matter who he gets rid of. He will hamstring the new coaches coming in like he did the old coaches. Pruitt is the bad apple in the barrel.

Yeah go ahead and put Tee Martin at OC and watch the inevitable happen even sooner...Every coach on that roster needs to find other jobs because if they hang on to this nightmare they too will be marked as no good and be harder to find a job elsewhere.

Agree with most, but I would add Osovet to the replacement list and possibly demote Ansley from the DC position. Little development with the TE group or DB group.

The O needs a complete overhaul but sadly it won’t matter. Pruitt is running the O he was told to run when he was hired. It’s the same 80-90s power run pro style Fulmer loved.
The new OC would just be another cog in a machine being told what to do and how to do it and wouldn’t be allowed to veer from Fulmers script. Remember, that’s how Tennessee plays football according to him. He would never allow a modern OC to come in and run the O.

Which thinking about it is the exact same issue we had with Lyle.

None of them. If you’re keeping the biggest problem, then why bother with changing the others
