If Pruitt doesn’t start Bailey and he continues to play Guarantano—do we start blaming Fulmer for not intervening?

Well...Stephens played 7 games a sophomore, none as a Freshman. Crompton redshirted as a Freshman, so.... I'm not willing to fact check the others ones, but I'd say your info isn't 100% good sir. That said, I'm very surprised to see that many. It is certainly nostalgic to see that many good QB's who produced at Tennessee. Those were the days for sure.

I actually remember watching the UCLA game when Manning and Stewart were both getting snaps wondering which one would emerge. Those were different times.
Can’t believe I just looked it up, but you’re right. Stephen’s was a Sophomore. 8/9 off the top of my head isn’t bad though lol.

A few RS Freshman in your list, but honestly, I was impressed! I had forgotten Banks was a QB. I remember him as a WR and the one handed hail mary he caught before the half against Florida. Haha!

Fulmer should manage the AD which includes Pruitt. He should NOT get involved in team personnel decisions..

If Pruitt is doing a bad job, then Fulmer needs to show him the door.

If Fulmer is doing a bad job, then his boss needs to show him the door..

Very simple................ except in Knoxville.

Anyone think maybe Pruitt lost our players by promising the black jerseys to honor our black student athletes, faculty and staff but not delivering on that promise?
Not sure he promised anything but he tried to make it happen and due to a contract with nike nike said Tennessee didnt give them enough time to do the black jerseys. Its something that has to do with time in advance. So it probably will happen next year or year after.

All depends on what Fulmer does at seasons end.

Does he fire Pruitt and bring in Freeze? Does he give Pruitt another raise and extension? Does he hide behind basketball season?

Sadly we have to just let it play out. History has taught us that as fans were gonna take it on the chin. Hopefully that changes this cycle. If not it’s wait until 2022 when the both are kicked to the curb.

This is my pickle.....1st, I dont really understand the hate for Fulmer. As AD he extended Rick Barnes, replaced Holly, and upgraded coaches at several sports. I know he extended Pruitt x2 years, but at the time I wasnt opposed to this move as I saw steady upgrades and an 8 game winning streak so I cant blame that move. Agreeing with others.....an AD shouldnt be involved.

Knowing how much Fulmer loves Tennessee, I would like to hold out hope that he has been in contact with Freeze (because as of now Freeze is saying he isn't interested in any jobs) and that maybe they have agreed to terms or are at least in talks HOWEVER with us trying to close this recruiting class and Liberty having a whale of a season there may be an agreement to keep it quiet until both teams complete the season. This also keeps us from having ANOTHER coaching search. We simply say goodbye to Pruitt, and in the 30 minute followup breaking news we welcome Freeze. There has been banter on here that Freeze has always had dreams of coaching at Tennessee. (i.e. he and wife breakng into Neyland while dating, making comments about coaching at Tenn.)

I think this perfectly sets Tennessee up to be a catalyst for being a "feel good story" as Freeze repent's of his past transgressions and is given a second chance at football life and leads Tennessee to a three-peat National Championship type of dynasty during the 20's............

Fulmer doesn't get credit for keeping Barnes. If it had been up to Fulmer, Barnes would have ended up at UCLA, then interim president Randy Boyd stepped in and found the money to keep Barnes.

Fulmer hired Pruitt, and just extended him to an 8-year contract before he'd even started his 3rd season, he will never fire Pruitt. Not this year, and not next year, no matter what his record is. As long as Fulmer is here Pruitt is here.

I think Fulmer is approaching the conversation of going out with Pruitt now.

I adamantly defended Fulmer as our coach, and I still do. I love Fulmer as a coach. However, anyone associated with Tennessee football that continues to allow Guarantano to start—should not be associated with Tennessee football in any capacity.

Fulmer needs to lay down the law—NOW—if Pruitt starts Guarantano again....he’s fired. Period.

It’s time Fulmer tries to save his own ass.
One person is not the problem here. Guarantano does give us the best chance to win. And personally, I like to win.

I started blaming Fulmer a long time ago.

Fulmer should be held accountable but half the fan base will defend him to the death because of what he did 22 years ago, ignoring the fact that he’s a part of the problem we are in because of his time as coach and now AD.

He should step in and tell Pruitt that JG’s time as starter is done but he won’t.

As an athletic director, if there's even a moment where you think you might have to intervene in a coaching decision, you know immediately that you have the wrong guy. A change must come.
Excellent point, IMO...

No I get that but seems like ever since that promise went unfulfilled that our guys have played uninspired and our sideline has been dead
