If Pearl did end up in Memphis

In every thread about Pearl in this forum, you'll find a vocal contingent of guys saying one or more of the following exaggerated things:

A) Pearl is one of the best coaches in the country
B) Pearl is the only coach who can win at Tennessee
C) If Pearl leaves, we will never be able to hire another coach who can do as well
D) Pearl bleeds orange and loves Tennessee as much as any of us

This thread is aimed at them. I like Pearl too, but you can't say anything critical of the guy at all without some of these guys shouting you down and telling you that you're not a real fan, how dare you, Buzz Peterson Buzz Peterson Buzz Peterson. They act like a bunch of burly denim-wearing "chicks" at a Take Back The Night rally.
awesome. V, you've moved right up the list of my favorite posters on this site. well done.:eek:lol:

It is fine to disagree and not like everything someone else does, but come on!

The man won with Dane Bradshaw playing forward. He is the best coach we have had this side of Devoe. All he has done is win, but that is not good enough for some people.

He's the college basketball version of Mike D'Antoni. If you want to entertain the casual fan, he's your guy. If you want to collect hardware, hire someone else.

That's what i've thought. My teams Suns and Vols:unsure:

Then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

anyone who didn't see that should be hit upside the head... although I do belive D'Antoni would have an NBA championship right now if not for Steve Nash getting thrown into a scorers table and the Suns getting screwed because of it.

No, they would have still gotten beaten and would have been without an excuse. It's best for them they can claim to have been robbed. That allows them to avoid the fact that they were nothing but overhyped regular season warriors who lacked the guts and toughness to win when it mattered.

So because he's better than the great Don Devoe he deserves 3-4 Mil a year?

Well, in the 1st game Nash gets a bloody nose for the last few minutes, game two Amare and Boris Diaw get suspended:cray:

I'm pretty sure they would have won. But to each their own.

They got other shots at the Spurs. How did those turn out?

Im not saying they would have won the series anyway, but the chances were better with a starter and a back-up that played significant minutes. I don't think my Suns will ever win a championship with the style that Alvin Gentry brought back sadly.

Those weren't at home.
The Spurs have a handful of rings that say they win big road games. The Suns have empty fingers that indicate they couldn't win a big game if it was played at the Pop A Shot in Dan Majerle's sports bar.

That year they were playing the best they ever had, and had won one game on the road already in that series I believe. They got screwed.

All they got was a built in excuse to hide behind instead of standing up to their annual gag job.

That's right they lost game 1 at home and won at the Spurs...Amare why did you have to leave the bench:ill_h4h:

The Suns are my 2nd favorite team (I was made to start paying attention to them and liking them cause of a girl) and that made me so sick.

I loved the Spurs-Suns series. They represented a battle for the very soul of basketball and the good guys always won. It was beautiful.

What got you started with them? I started watching Phoenix when they played Dallas that year (the 2 OT game ) I'll never forget the game tying three Nash made to send it into OT:rock:

I used to hate Steve Nash when he played for Dallas (this is probably because I don't like Mark Cuban and rooted against them), then he went to the Suns and I jumped on the bandwaggon immediately because of how fun he was to watch. Kinda like how I hated Shaq at LA and loved him at Miami and Phoenix.
