Tennessee would have probably won that game...
I am looking at the stat sheet now and Tennessee only had 23 less yards of total offense than Florida did. Tennessee also had 8 third-down conversions (Florida only had 3) and dominated the time of possession.
I bring all this up to illustrate that the offense had success, plenty of it in fact, it just couldn't get out of its own way.
The defense actually had a solid game. More than half of Florida's points came off our mistakes that gave them short fields. It was a completely different story when they actually had to drive the field. Did Florida's offense put together any lengthy drives? I dont recall any. Our defense forced them to punt 7 times.

Chill out, Volnation. Yesterday was just another weird game against Florida. Nothing more, nothing less. How often do you see a team commit six turnovers in a game? That is a fluke. Yesterday's game is in no way a reflection of what this team can be. Our offense just had a really sloppy game. It happens.

Read the stats I cited, guys. The point is we had offensive success. Those stats prove that. Six turnovers is six turnovers. It is not Helton's fault Austin Pope fumbled the ball into the end zone. It's not Pruitt's fault Wood-Anderson dropped the wide open fourth down pass. Those plays pretty much sum that game up. We had chances. The offense just couldn't get out of its own way.

I know what your saying because Florida is not a better team and that is what's frustrating but turnovers are part of the game unfortunately. All that matters is the W.

My guess is Florida will go back to looking like trash the next decent team they play.

Unfortunately losing has to eradicated from the Vols program that was systematically programmed into many of these guys by the last infomercial host.

As opposed to your intelligent "woulda coulda shoulda" bulls*** post? And the "oh gee it was just a fluke" line of thinking? Yeah check back with me in 3 weeks and let us know how much of a fluke it was.
First of all,
Where have you been? Tennessee has a long history of playing like crap against Florida. Fulmer's teams did it and he won SEC championships and a national title.

I'm saying that you probably won't see us turn the ball over six times in a game again this year.
The next three games? I dont recall saying anything about the next three games. I dont think we will win any of them. However, I think we can beat the rest of the East other than Georgia.

I guarantee you will see Tennessee make back breaking mistakes several times a game throughout the season because that’s what Tennessee does.

Turnovers, penalties, tripping on blades of grass, dropped passes, blown assignments, etc.

It’s not outside the norm right now. Unfortunately, it is the norm.

Oh, we'll make mistakes. There's no doubt about that. That's not what I'm arguing.

There are almost always back breaking mistakes in any loss; however, if you think what the Vols did last night is this team's norm, you are flat wrong. As weak as this team is, many of the mistakes last night were unforced and/or just dumb luck.

Agree. The stats didn’t reflect the outcome. They beat thereselves

Good teams don't turn the ball over that many times, even decent teams. Tennessee doesn't fall into either category. Good teams make their own luck because they win individual matchups most of the time. Decent teams can't turn it over many times to win. Bad teams have to play mistake free because they're bad.

Well, look no further than last time UT played the Aggies. Just like Sat night, UT had 6 and the opponent just 1. (My apologies if someone has already mentioned this.)

It's a grand strategy to take down the Dawgs this weekend.

Sarcasm obviously, BUT, this is about the only way Pruitt can go with the team...focus on getting better and eliminating mistakes. Bludgeoning the team on the loss will not do much for the team mentality towards keeping everyone on board

It was 47-21, but the game was closer than the score. We beat UTEP 24-0, but we could have scored 50 if we would have gotten out of our own way. We played WVU close, but the weather delay caused the blowout.

We had Florida by 13 in the second half and just busted a coverage. We were up 9 in the 4th quarter until Treon Harris came in. We had OU on the ropes for three and a half quarters.

We beat LSU, but we had 58 men on the field. We won the bowl game against UNC, but they had 58 men on the field.

We had Alabama, but they blocked a field goal.

I'm not sure, but I think I see a trend.
