If not Dooley - then who?

I read alot of folks don't think Dooley was the right guy for UT. I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions. If you think Dooley was NOT the right guy then tell the rest of us:
1) Why
2) Who would have been better
3) How would we have been able to get that guy

Jon Gruden would not have been a bad choice IMO, but Dooley is the man now. So I'm embracing it and moving forward.

I think Dooley is the man. It's easy to say he's not doing what he should but I just want to know who they think would be better.

He has done absolutely nothing for anyone to be down on him. He signed the number 9 recruiting class which is the only thing tangible to judge him on at this point.

He failed to sign any DTs other than John Brown, who was already committed under Kiffin, and that guy he poached from Valdosta State. That's going to hurt later.

Given the state of this fanbase and this message board I believe the only hire that would be right would be Dr. Phil or Oprah...

OMG He hasn"t even called a play yet. The 3rd coach in 3 yrs lets talk about this agian at the end of the season. Let's give him and his staff a chance before we make him walk the plank!

He has no track record of winning, I was personally hoping for Gary Patterson or Kyle Wittingham, proven winners but thats just me... However Dooley did get Chris Wilcox from Boise who I think will prove to be huge. We have to face it that we were spoiled with Lane and his staff recruiting wise last year. They were relentless and you knew you weren't out of it until NSD. Dooley is doing a descent job filling needs which is most important this offseason. O-Line and interior D-Line are the major holes and if he can fill them approriately I won't complain.

Not near to the level of Dooley though. Kiffin brought an all-star staff with him that quieted a lot of fears. Plus, most of the people on the fence about Fulmer had fallen on the "fire him" side after the 2008 season. There were Fulmerites, but it was a much smaller crowd than the number of people doubting or flat out against Dooley.

I tend to disagree on the point about the staff. This is not a bad staff, point in fact is is a very good, solid and experienced one. And yes the Head Coaches compare similarly

I agree somewhat with the numbers on crowds against but only sightly.

this is a crucial point going forward.

according to i think vegasvol, our rivals land an average of 3 DTs per class.

CPF's last year he got 1.

CLK also got 1.

and CDD, with a full three weeks to recruit before signing day, brought in no new DTs.

what a failure! if we suck on D it is all CDDs fault.
