will he stay, he is 68. Is it realistic to think we may get 4-5 years out of him? I think he will stay long enough to get Lane back where he needs to be. Also does anyone think Monte will be the assistant HC?

I was thinking 3 years at the most then (if he comes) Coach O will take over.

I don't think a title will be a big deal here. He is coaching for his son! He wants to make sure the program is in good shape when he rides off into the sunset.

Look at it from Monte's perspective, most fathers desire to build a car or fish with his son in his later years. As father and son Monte and Lane get to rebuild the greatest tradition in college football.

And get paid to do it! Can't beat that.

By the way, Does it seem like the people that work with Monte are really happy for him. I was reading TB newspaper and the players and coaches really seemed to be for him going to be with Lane.

I have a good feeling :)

Great so we hire a HBC thats needs to be put back into place!

I think Monte is the only reason Lane got the job...and thats sad that UT had to hire someone because of someone elses resume.

Monte's created enough good coaching proteges that he can leave TB with a clear conscious and in great shape. That's what he'll do for Lane and Tennessee football. I'd say he stays around 3 years tops, puts a defensive system in place and teaches some coaches how to run it and turns it over to a younger stud. He'll have an awesome place on a lake or in the foothills around Knoxville and will have much of his family around him. The dude is living the dream life.
