Marshall makes 1.75 million right now. But apparently has a desire to coach at a higher level. Just not sure it'd be UT any more since we failed to hire him before. I'd think he'd command 2.75 million on the market.

Bust or not... Hart convinced Grant.

I've been following Hart's reputation for awhile. He doesn't mess around, and it usually 3 years ahead of everyone else. He will eventually have "an out" if his hires becomes busts.

He was a KEY factor when ACC expanded. Hart comes to Tennessee and all of a sudden SEC expands. Pretty sure that Hart was involved with that situation.

If Mike Slive leaves the SEC as commish, I would think Hart would be a candidate.

Yeah, BTO, I changed my mind on that. A poster at Hoopsville made a good point. That was a totally different UT AD Dept at the time he interviewed, so he wasn't insulted by the people there now.

I still don't think when it comes down to it that CCM leaves, but I do think if he really truly is unhappy, now is the best time for him to do so. I didn't realize that Webster played for Wisconsin and Harris for Marquette.So there are ties.

Set aside the....is Tennessee a good enough job for a minute.

I agree, $2.5-$2.75 would be more than enough to land him IMO. If rumors are true that Hart is set to pay Martin $2.0-$2.2m you're telling me we couldn't find a bit extra to entertain Marshall?

We would get a decent chunk of change from Marquette having to buyout Martin no?

Right that's the point I've been making. Hart never passed on Marshall, Hamilton did.

Marshall is a millionaire and isn't going to leave a place where he basically has a lifetime contract and gets the players he wants without issue. He has huge booster support and a large group of people he travels with there.
He wont go to a place and risk being on a job hunt in 3-4 years. No coach is guaranteed success at UT. Too many factors with basketball.

Witch is why it's stupid to be happy if Zo leaves. If he leaves Hart will probably butcher the hire and UT basketball will fall back down into irrelevance

I didnt say I would be happy if he left. I just don't worry about it. Like I said, it's entertainment to me. If I watched 75 UT games the last 3 years, how many were fun to watch? Anybody watching us would say quite often, "man UT is hard to watch".
If Martin would guarantee he would coach like the last 10, then lifetime contract him. If like most of the prior 2.5 years, I don't care to see it. Maybe others like nit and barely making it. I don't.

That's what it would take. And since IT isn't going to do that, he's not coming here. That was the point. I never said Tennessee actually should.
