If JG returns next yesr

JG is a Trueblood Vol and bleeds orange. If he comes back then someone will just have to play better than him to take his job. Same goes for this season, there are no guarantees.

The problem is that Pruitt's concept of "plays better" = "turns it over the least in the slower speed and lower stress of practice".

Pruitt is going to have to purchase "Head Coaching for Dummies" and start asking his offensive staff why they don't seem to be developing the QB room.

Coming back for his 200th season it seems. I'd have to just boycott the season if that happens. I'm not sure i'm going to make it thru another 7 games with him under center much less another season.. When they lose one they shouldn't, which may start this week, the fans will be done with it. No improvement year to year with him. It's like a bad rerun that keeps airing over and over again..

Did you hear JG after the game? He said it was “one of his last chances to beat Georgia.” In other words, he intends to come back.

Does TN Tech play Georgia next year? Hopefully this is JG’s last year as the Vol QB. In a few more years he’ll be collecting SS benefits. Seriously, this has to end soon. Seems like a great young man and can take a beating but the Vols will never reach the upper echelon of SEC football with him behind center. He has reached his ceiling.

That QB for Mizz with one start is already ahead of this guy with over 30.

I shudder at the thought of JG starting for the rest if the year.

Next year again....? Kill me please.

Let me fill in the blanks for you then. Big losses - Alabama, Florida and Texas A&M.

Dog fights - Kentucky, Auburn, and Arkansas.

Less than spectacular win - Vanderbilt.

Another dogfight - Opponent X in middling bowl game.

I fully expect to see Jarrett Guarantano doing PSAs for Medicare coverage or endorsements for AARP before he finally departs the Vol sideline.

We will have a difficult time holding onto Bailey and Salter. And we will have difficulty recruiting a QB in general.

If this is JGs ceiling, it calls into question our coaching. And it means once you win the job, the coaches won’t consider a change.

Dumb post is dumb. If you get pressured 30x on x number of those, you’re going to have a bad play (fumble, isn’t, sack). I felt he did a solid job of avoiding pressure, making some plays with his feet (turning what should’ve been sacks into 2-3 yard gains), and throwing the ball away.

He didn’t do a great or perfect job of avoiding pressure, but his performance is much like defense. When you have a ton of plays on the wrong side of the field your d will eventually give up some points. When your qb is pressured almost every play, you’re going to have some issues.

We just need to move forward, knowing we won’t see another defense that good this season, and continue to close the talent gap between us

Did you not watch him spin out of pressures, step up in the pocket when needed, and turn what should’ve been sacks into small gains? A qb doesn’t have to run for 100 yards carrying defenders with him to have done a good job with his feet

So he avoided the defenders once and that suddenly makes him successful at "avoiding pressure, making some plays with his feet"?

He ended the game with -40 yards rushing. You don't eat 5 sacks and end the game with negative 40 yards rushing if your are successfully avoiding pressure.

I would bet that JG transfers to another school next season. The question will be what kind of opportunities that will be available to him.

The Miami QB King sorta reminds me of JG.

He did that a few times. He also had no sense of pressure on a few more sacks. Didn’t even tuck the ball, just let the defenders slap it out of his hands. If you can’t get away from it, at least cover the ball.

That’s kind of my point though is volume matters. Even the best nfl qbs are occasionally sacked for fumbles or throw picks. If they get pressured all 30x in a game, it’s likely they have those things happen multiple times. The volume was too high for any qb to overcome. You can’t give up that many pressures

If you’re pressured 30 times and only sacked 5, is that actually bad?

On paper Tennessee has some very good coaches......makes me wonder what is going on.

Is there a control problem.....I don’t know, maybe their isn’t. However some of them “had” been some top notch coaches....and now it looks like they can’t even develop.....at one point Weinke was thought of as one of the best QB coaches in the game (and you have Tee) You look at Tennessee’s situation and you have to wonder.....what is going on.
