BP has publically done his part in gaining forgivenesses! He is my first choice if DD doesn't win 8 games this year!
My second choice is Willie Taggert at WKU. He is from the Stanford tree and he knows how to play physical football and he is a hell of a football coach!!!
Don't get me wrong but this is all if DD doesn't win 8 games that I still think he does!!!
If I had made your post above, I'd stand in the mirror and tell myself the same thing I'm telling you now. Only, I'd cuss myself out every 2nd word while saying it.
You don't believe he will win 8 games. Combined with our Florida disappointment and your suggested coaching replacements, you've already dismissed CDD. What you did was blurt out what you were already harboring in your mind before the game was even played. But you're not alone, many others are like you.
I'm a CDD fan and will be the first to tell you this is the year he has to get it done. We may not have the depth in all the positions we need but we have a truly competitive team. People who wrote off Florida as a paper tiger were ignorant. They have excessive talent in so many positions despite the holding tactics they employ to slow down WRs. They have blazing speed at RB and WR, especially after they get the ball and even a suggestion of daylight. Our CBs are slow in comparison, just plain slow. They don't always get a ball carrier down even when they get their hands on him. In this game, we lose more than anything because our WRs dropped balls they should have caught. But this remains the year CDD has to get it done. He has a team that can sneak into the SEC-east title game. All it takes is for us beat Ga and USCjr and Florida to lose to either and one more.
Note I didn't suggest replacement coaches. Because when you do that, it communicates loud and clear you have no further confidence in CDD despite your obligatory "But" statement. I hate we lost to the lizard men again but we're a team that's still recovering from gross program mismanagement and have actually made headway. Enough to actually compete in the SEC, winning a minimum of four games in my opinion. You won't get no talk about replacement coaches from me nor should you from anyone else until and if those 4 games are lost. By now you know players do read our posts here. They don't need the morale sapping lack of confidence yak-yak from what passes as fans here. What they need is encouragement to to stand tall, study this game for means to play better and charge hard, hard, hard at the remaining season.
Oh yeah, BP is a great offensive coach but his teams don't know how to play defense. Tennessee's history has been a good offense and a hard nosed defense. If you want to win championships, you need both. I for one don't believe he'd be a proper fit here.
