It would piss me off to be scanning message boards of the programs who say they want me to give them the next 2-4 years of my life, click on a thread with my name on it, and find that half the content of that thread is irrelevant bickering about a topic having nothing to do with me or my college choice. If I'm a high school senior I probably believe the whole world is about me. Don't I deserve for my thread to be about me?????

You're not an elite recruit and you're putting way too much stock into message boards.

But to your point, yes, overall we should remain positive on these boards. That's not to say criticism isn't warranted at times, however. I think the trend you condemn is a fairly common one across the nation. Sure, Alabama fan boards are fairly upbeat at the moment, but I'm sure they wouldn't have been back in the late 90s-early 2000s (had these boards existed) and probably won't be nearly as upbeat after St. Saban leaves.

Well the OP doe have a point, kinda. it is annoying going into a thread thinking your gonna find info or even just talk about the topic in the thread title, just to see a bunch of bickering about things as stupid as grammar and other off topic talk.

Yeah, I'm not even talking about the tone so much as the topic. I think we can pretty well agree that many recruits and parents have a tendency to check out what's being said about them, even though it is just a fan message board. It's just wearing me out right now that we have multiple kids who may go through the last 3 pages of their threads and see nothing related to their potential as a Vol. I'm not angry, and we're not stupid. Go Vols. That's all.

For real?

If I were an elite high school football player in my senior year being recruited by every major college in the country I would be less concerned with message boards and more concerned with chasing two legged deer and enjoying the celebrity status I was receiving from everyone.

How about you keep on subject in this elite recruits thread.. if not he'll look elsewhere. If you actually posted on a consistent basis maybe you would have developed proper message board etiquette.

In all seriousness.. it was just silly to make a thread about this. Everyone knows that it gets out of control in the recruiting forum sometimes.

At least it isn't the FOOTBALL FORUM:eek:k:.

Maybe so. And I'm no expert poster. But at times I think starting a new thread is a great idea.

When you start thinking those things, look at the flamability of the subject that you're about to post. Most threads here end up dumpster fires anyways.

The very day that bUTch was announced as the head coach, I happened to watch the local evening news. I seldom watch news on t.v. I am sure you can understand that it is usually always bad news.
The interviewer interviewed two different Tennessee residents who had committed to U.T. One was the offensive lineman from the Cleveland and the other was a wide receiver, but I am not sure what school he attends.

Both of these recruits, in seperate interviews said " I am happy with the hire of Coach Jones, regardless what the fans on the website say about him being hired"

So, I had always suspected that the recruits may glance at this site occasionally to see what the fans state of mind is about the program.

Once Gabe Wright committed to Auburn, I suspected that the recruits might actually glance occasionally at this website but when those two committments actually said it on t.v., it was confirmed.

So, let's watch what we say on here. Keep it positive....

I absolutely agree, and I believe most do. I was actually going a step further and suggesting that we make an effort to keep a recruit's thread dedicated to that recruit.

If I was an elite recruit, I would be going to football camps, pumping iron, and taking full advantage of the lovely amenities that official visits are rumored to have.

I would not be perusing one of the dozens of message boards of one of the schools I was looking at. Nope.
