If Hooker comes back...

HH will be in preseason Heisman talk if he comes back, and if we win the games we should win and possibly pull an upset or two, he might be a serious contender too.

If he comes back, that's plus one or two, at least, in the win column. And yes, if the rest of the team...especially the defense...mans up, then he's in the Heisman conversation.

Personally, I don't think he cares one bit about an individual award. He'd much rather play for his team, and team success.

Depending on the next 3 games and the bowl game, HH could shoot up draft boards because this QB class is so weak. If he becomes a guaranteed day 2 pick, I think he leaves. I hope he doesn't, but also wouldn't blame him if he did.

I honestly don’t see Hooker getting Heisman talk if he comes back. Stroud, Williams, Young and I am sure there will be some others. I think for it to happen he would have to put up huge numbers in these last 3 games.

He'd be crazy not to leave if he's projected to go in the 3rd-4th rounds.

It really depends on whether he wants to go to the NFL and get paid or if he wants to go to the NFL and play. Once you go to the NFL, you get very limited opportunities to showcase your skills. He could go and get a little money, but if he really wants to play, he would be well advised to spend another year in college developing his talent and putting his resume together.

Mixed signals, or I completely misread your post. No Heisman talk if he comes back? Huge numbers last 3 games?

If he comes back, given his numbers this year, how is he not in the conversation next season?

Remember, I'm in Georgia. Dumb it down...use small words...and type slow.

;)

Go Vols.

If every single player who can return does, starting with Hendon, the big gaps we need to fill for a serious run at the SEC East are:

-- wide receiver -- losing two of our top three playmakers (Jones and Payton) -- need younger fellas to step up
-- defensive line -- 4 of the 10 DL on our depth chart have to move on after this season -- we'll need a quick refill from the portal
-- linebacker -- we're not losing a lot, but we can stand to improve here -- maybe an upgrade or two from the portal

Everywhere else, we're good. We could make a serious run at Georgia and the East next season, if the lads all come back and we find quick backfills for those three position groups.

Go Vols!
Secondary……. Not good there, could definitely stand to improve there

We need some help on the OL as well…we lost 4 guys from last years team (3 via the portal and one to the NFL) and need more depth. We have a 4 star commitment but could always use a Juco or transfer portal player who can step in immediately

True but if he gets hurt or we have a bad season it could take him off the radar. Jones and Payton are gone also, aren't we losing some OL guys too. Not getting drafted high would give him a chance to possible sit a year or two, get paid and probably in a better position to really showcase and get that big pay off on the backend. I think it'll come down to what scouts are saying and if TN makes some moves in the portal before declaring. I think a day 1 or 2 pick would be hard to not throw his hat in the ring, he also has some good buzz about him in a weak QB class...He puts up big numbers against GA. Things will get interesting

Either way heupel will be hitting the portal/juco pretty hard. I would like to see him go after Rattler. No reason that transfer shuttle to OU can’t run both ways. With what he’s done with Hooker other QB’s should see that coming to play for heupel would be a wise career move. Maybe he’ll find another Joe Burrow

I’ve been saying it for a while, but I won’t be surprised at all if Hooker leaves. He will be 24 in a few months. Not sure another year changes much from an NFL perspective.

Or Justin Fields. Or Jalen Hurts. Or Kyler Murray.

With CJ Stroud appearing to be the man at Ohio State and just a redshirt freshman, I wonder if Quinn Ewers might be in play.

Lots of changes going to happen in NIL as time goes on. Businesses are going to want to make sure these kids live up to the billing before handing out big deals, IMO. The changes on transfers and NIL are changing cfb and we don’t know how it’s all going to shake out for awhile. Is Ewers willing to wait a couple of years at OSU if he could get similar NIL deal and starting for UT and a nationally recognized up and coming program? Just feels good to think about these types of players and “what if” situations, and know it’s becoming more feasible each week to think good things could be happening to UT in the future.
