While I wanted to see Bailey early against the crap teams..... I agree he isn't quite ready. He may never be in this style offense. The guy can throw the rock though. If he has time. As a freshman the game was too fast at times for him. Possibly still the case. I do however believe good coaches coach to the players he has. When and IF Bailey has his number called again he needs to be ready to go. I think after UGA we may be hurting. All this said, there may be a real plan to red shirt Bailey to give him time to grow instead of throwing him out there to the lions. We likely won't know that until the off season. If HB transfers out we start over with Jackson. If I were game planning UGA I’d try to go straight at them with the run. They’re too fast to go side to side. See if you can get them to commit a safety to the box. If you can, then look at down the field but probably with seam routes more so than outside routes. If we run outside routes I’d think wheel routes and screens would be best but wheel routes can take a little time. Again, I’d go straight at them though. We did it fairly well against Florida at times which was stunning to me as we couldn’t move TN Tech back. I do think we will see Bailey start a game at some point, whether due to injury or poor QB play. When the time comes that will be quite interesting.
If Hooker can't go and we play Milton, it's a guaranteed loss. Milton shouldn't be anything more than an emergency QB at this point. He's pathetic. If we play Bailey, we might still have an opportunity to win. Heupel needs to own up to the fact that he flat out blew it, when not conducting a truly open QB competition. It doesn't inspire confidence in his decision making.
I think Heupel even going after Milton in the portal at all signifies that he was "the guy" in fall camp.
I'm just left wondering what Heupel saw in the Michigan tape, that made him think that trying to fix Milton in a single fall camp was a better option, than trying to get two of the three QBs already on the roster up to a passing speed on his offense.
I think is a superior athlete, however, he is simply not a very good QB. It seems to be his attitude and his inability to control his arm when throwing passes of different distances. He is also very predictable, when he is forced out of the pocket, about where he will scramble and the defense can adjust after they review his film of previous games. It is unfortunate that he has those problems, but they are clear and present.Absolute truth. He’s terrible. I truly believe tue reason he’s gotten so much opportunity (and seemingly won the job with barely a competition) is because heupel recruited him. He’s the only qb here because of heupel. For some reason heupel really likes him. There were stories about heupel talking with him after games back when he was at Missouri. Bizarre. If hooker would’ve won the job we’d be 3-1 right now and feeling a lot better about the state of the program. Heupel recruiting and then starting Milton was a huge mistake. Huge. Hopefully he’s not to arrogant to recognize as much. All coaches make mistakes. The great coaches recognize when they’re wrong a change.
I laugh at those who laugh at conspiracy theories… especially when their scoffing comes to a program who just lost 1/4 of their team and their coaches because they in fact were conspiring. Can't wait to hear the logic behind this one. Nothing like a good conspiracy theory to get me through a Tuesday... do tell!
So we’re saying Bruce Jenner had pocket awareness.Well, that is going to happen and Milton has NO POCKET AWARENESS! If he did, he would have tucked the balls or got away from the defenders instead of fumbling several times! Yes, Milton is a better athlete and runner. But, Bailey is a much better passer that can open up the run game AS LONG AS HE MAKES FASTER DECISIONS and GETS RID OF THE BALL SOONER!!!
Pure. Unadulterated. Horse manure.I agree 100%. I think he needs to get at least a half vs Mizz to prove he can or can't be what the O needs moving forward with or without a healthy Hooker! If Bailey doesn't at least get a shot and transfers and blossoms on another team, Heupel better hope the pro style QB's that do have the ability to do some damage with their legs when necessary aren't needed at all during his coaching career!!! Because he probably won't get another 4 or 5 star pro style QB to come to play for him!!!!
Not sure why that seems to be so difficult for some of our fan base to understand.Pure. Unadulterated. Horse manure.
You don't just "get a half" to prove something. You "get" playing time when you EARN PLAYING TIME.
I still think Bailey has potential. I suspect he will not catch up to Hooker and will likely be passed by someone else from the portal if not Jackson.
You somehow think Bailey should get a tryout in a game so you can approve of the result. He's had a tryout... since January. He came in 3rd.
As far as future QB's... they'll be told what Bailey was told- earn it and its yours.
