If Heupel loses to Florida

If Heupel loses to Florida at Neyland this season, whether by blowout or by last second TD toss by Richardson, how much support will Heupel lose from the fanbase?
Probably some, but I think there are others like me who realize we simply can spend like the big boys anymore, thanks to the incompetence of our past administration and athletic department. My wish is to be at least another Texas Tech - at least an average record, but eye candy on the field.

That depends fully on what type of loss it is, and what the rest of his body of work looks like. We've had lots of coaches lose to Forida regularly...unfortubately the program seems to have a mental block about them we can't shake. I don't think Heupel will get judged anymore harshly than anyone dating back to Fulmer. We'll reset for the next game and start the claims of "next year".

So you’ll be in full meltdown mode is what you’re saying.

Spurrier played mind games with Fulmer, and to his credit, it worked. Since then we haven't had a very good body of work against them, mainly because they had better coaching, plus, their guys were very good at getting into the heads of the Tennessee players. I think Heupel won't fall victim to the banter. He's just gonna game plan for them and play Tennessee football, Josh Heupel style. Oh, Florida usually had better talent since Spurrier was coach. That's been a big part of the problem.

I would have to strongly disagree with you on this. There are few out there who can spend like Tennessee can. We aren't going to be number one (Texas & Texas A&M), but we will be in the upper portion, maybe even top 10.

He’s one of those. Look at his moniker.

Lost 16 out 17 times to this team, another wouldn't be a surprise. Heupel will get his time here unless the wheels completely fall off. Tennessee plays UGA, UF, UA every year. I don't think any other team does. Those are the measuring stick games though.

It would be disheartening, but I don't base everything off of one game. However, depending on how he handles in-game situations, it could start to build a case against him. I honestly feel like, for the first time in a long time, we're legitimately better than Florida though.

He'll lose a little support, but Heupel and the program will lose a lot of momentum. Last year did a lot in terms of rebuilding interest in Tennessee football and, unfortunately, the reality is that a loss to Florida likely means that stagnation is the best-case scenario for this season. Not a deal breaker by any means, but it's going to make year three that much more difficult.

You’re not wrong, but that could change soon. If anyone goes away annually I think it will be UGA.
