If Fulmer is fired

god, not Clawson

Better Clawson than Chavis. Maybe see what he can do with full control the rest of the season. Wouldn't hurt since the season is a total failure already and he's probably gone along with the rest of the staff at the end of the season if Fulmer were fired.

Who takes over if Fulmer is fired. Chavis or Clawson.

I answered this question last night, and it touched off a full blown posting war that resulted in an addition to my ignore list, a bunch of post deletions, a possible banning, a planned fight behind the lunchroom, and several odd references to tobacco.

So tonight, in respect for the mods and all of their fine work, I am changing my answer and saying it would be John Gruden.

That sounds like the repercussions from every post I made during the 2005 and 2006 football seasons.

Who cares? At this point, a 6-6 record would be an accomplishment.

You want that on your resume? I went 6-6 at Tennessee.

With apologies to Dave Clawson, who has essentially played "Deal or No Deal"...and lost...clean house...flush the toilet...and start from scratch.

Really, who would want any of the coaches on this staff, if starting over?

Chavis? 3rd & long = 1st & ten? No thanks. Maybe in the WAC, but not in the SEC.

Clawson? Nope. You should have called Randy Sanders before you took the deal. He could have told you what would probably happen. BTW, he will probably get his revenge in November. "For better or for worse", you married Phil. Get ready for worse.

Anyone else? Nope. All Fulmer hires.

Clean house. Start over, from scratch.

Find a "pearl" for football.

go vols.

I thought he was saying who would take over mid-season if Fulmer was fired. Not who would replace him from then on... if so I'd take my statement back.

Right now, Fulmer still has a mathematical chance to win 8 games. We all know that is not going to happen. With one more loss that chance is gone and I think at that point a decision will be made. I think the announcement comes the week following the 5th loss, and I think Fulmer and his staff finish out the season and then ride off into the sunset....causing an eclipse.

Great. I can see it now. Chavis takes over as interim head coach.

And we start lining up two wide receivers 20 yards behind the line of scrimmage. To prevent the big fumble return.

That needs to be stickied somewhere.

Let Clawson take over and try to salvage something on his resume after a brief stay here. If he can get the fans excitied and produce some points, it may be a way for his staff to pick up a few opportunities after the season.
