If Eric Berry decides to come back next year

Rico McCoy has the best chance of a high draft slot outside of Berry. The others are all late rounders

I think Dan Williams could go before McCoy. McCoy is physically talented, but he's always missing tackles (like against Auburn on that screen that went for 6, and of course the Tebow debacle). It's OK to occasionally miss tackles, but when you are a senior you need to be smart enough to force it back inside.

i have always had a feeling that e.b. wants an sec championship so much he would come back for his senior year. a la peyton manning. could be wrong but just got a feeling.

I agree with you, but I also don't think winning an SEC championship next year is very plausible. Bray would have to be one of a kind.

Why on earth would EB come back next year, just to be on a team that would have very little chance to win a sec east title? Maybe in 2011 though.....

I would turn down millions to break a college football record.

A record can last forever and EB has it made at the University of Tennessee everyone loves him. He is a KING!! So why not stay in the spot light for one more year?? Just my opinion. Hell the guy has a song made after him. He will make millions in this draft or the next dont see the issue of staying.

Well, the NFL is about to make extreme changes in how rookies are paid. If EB doesn't leave then he is an absolute idiot. I love Eric Berry and would quite possibly go to NY to watch the draft where a UT player is drafted #2.

Why would Berry risk injury when he is already slated to go #1 or #2 overall?

That would just be dumb.

+1

Yeah if the agreement isn't reached then staying for another year will be a terrible idea for Berry.

I know its dumb for him not to go. I guess I am just wishing that he would say. Trying to have high hopes I suppose.

This discussion made me look at Hardesty's stats over his career, I found something very interesting. He has never fumbled... EVER. I know by bringing this up he'll probabley fumble 3 times this week, but that's impressive to be a running back in the SEC and never fumble.

Will we have anybody drafted in the first round? I just don't think that Hardesty will have enough production to go in the first round. McCoy just hasn't lived up to his potential and is a possible 3rd/4th rounder IMO. And being how dinged up the big uglies have been, I don't think anyone would go 1st Round. What do you all think?

Chris Scott is having an outstanding year. McCoy is having a good year but he's a later round pick.

By the end of the season, Dan Williams could be the best DT in the SEC... that could move him up.

IMHO, Hardesty is the best back in the SEC and it really isn't all that close. I don't think it will be production. I think it will be his injury history that keeps him out of the 1st round... and probably the first 3.

Thank you for that stat. That is nothing short of amazing, especially in the SEC. and to think all this time we've been playing with fumblin' Foster. Sheesh

I'd say unless he blows away the competition at the combine, there's no way he's a first rounder (Hardesty). If for nothing else, he's a huge injury risk. He's never made it through a season relatively healthy, and no team would risk first-round money on an injury risk. If workout beasts like Javon Ringer don't go in the first, there's no way Hardesty will.

If you looked this up on ESPN, then throw it out. Go game-by-game, and you'll see that he's fumbled. ESPN doesn't record stats for collegiate fumbles.
If you look up Crompton's stats on ESPN, you'll see that he's also never fumbled in his career.

Ingram and Richardson are both better RBs than Hardesty.

You guys have a lot of misconceptions.

As good as berry is, he will not be a #1 or #2 pick unless someone that is in extreme need (Top priority) of a CB/S falls there.

Berry wont be the top D player taken either. DT like McCoy and Suh. DE Carlos Dunlop can and most likely will go higher.

Hardesty is good, really good... but not first day good. I see him in 3 round. Like Coffee last year.

Dan Williams being the best DT in the SEC? Terrence Cody..

RICHARDSON is not a better RB than Hardesty, and Ingram may compete with him..

Another thing to remember about the draft... the projected best players aren't always taken in order.

Example:
Heyward-Bey over Crabtree...

So look out for Taylor Mays.. Some scout might say "hey, i like his size, speed, and hit power." and take him over berry.

Personally i like berry better, even though i am partial.

Berry could play S or DB at the next level.
Mays could play SS or LB at the next level.

Everything I have seen has him between the mid second and late third round depending on need.

On the bright side, I did read several NFL draft scouts refer to Crompton as the worst BCS level QB they had ever seen at a game they were scouting. Dunno if thats hyperbole there, but the only guy I've seen do comparable and keep his job in the SEC was Henig as Miss. State.

Now, I'm pretty sure Georgia Tech woulda traded Reggie Ball for Crompton in a heartbeat... as would quite a few middling ACC/BigEast/Pac10 teams.

You talking about hardesty?

Another guy to keep an eye on is Mr. Coker.. late rounder.

Crompton couldn't play in a GT offense.. and no one would want Crompton. Dont compare Pac-10 teams to Big east or ACC.

Haha could see it, they will definitely be a top 10 pick this year as well.

It just comes down to the Combine speeds.

Also, if you look at some of these teams like SF(panthers first round), Oakland, and maybe SD... they might feel partial to Mays. There fans might have a better appeal to a USC guy who is always on the News in Cali.

Tennessee and Tampa... they would take Berry in a heartbeat.

If i were to bet Tennessee takes Berry and uses him as a CB.

Wow, you guys are really keeping up with next years' draft projections.

Berry is exactly where he was to start the season on Mel Kiper's big board.....#2 Pick behind Sam Bradford. Updated 10/7/09. Best and Spiller are the top two rated RB's right now. My guess is that Hardesty is definitely a 1st day draft pick but the only teams that have multiple 1st round talent are Oklahoma, Texas, and Southern Cal.

Berry will go top 5. Where in the top 5 will depend on which team has which pick.

The team with the most first round talent is Florida.

Dunlap, Spikes, Tebow, Joe Haden, Maurkice Pouncey and maybe Hernandez will be first rounders.

The upside to that is that three of those guys are juniors who will be leaving early.

Have trouble seeing those guys go first.. especially Tebow.

1st round Dunlap, Hayden, Spikes. Hernandez is the maybe sneak in but doubtful.

When Tebow is drafted, He will go to the Jags. Only 1st round team that would take him.

With his parents current financial status, he's a goner, no doubt. Especially since next year is going to be an uncapped season, now is the time to get in there and get paid. As much I love Eric Berry, I want him to get out there and get his. He deserves it. I'd love to see him go to the Titans. Hometown team and they badly help in the secondary.
