It is a 3 step process this offseason.

First, go out and hire a real running backs coach and get rid of Hiestand. Eddie Gran, Jay Graham or Porter would all suffice.
Next, find an offensive coordinator who is going to A) run the football effectively and B) use the weapons that we have (Bray, Rogers, Hunter, etc.) appropriately. I'm not sure who's out there that will fulfill these requirements but this is a must.
Three, Joseph must go. Make Rodney Garner or another top flight DBs coach an offer they can't refuse. Do what you have to do to get the athletes that we have on the back end (they are talented) in the right places and doing the right things. It is the key to our defense next year.
Do these things, and at least he is putting people around him who can lead him to success. Don't take care of these issues and next year is his last.

Pretty sure Garner has never coached DBs. Everything else sounds about right.

two things. one, hiring different coordinators would be like rearranging the deck furniture on the titanic. surely, chaney and the offensive sub-coaches didn't keep the light from going on in what passes for dooley's brain that stone was no center. that charade went on for half the season. that pretty well sums up his two year production. two, who the hell would want to work for a bona fide goner? if dooley rides this year out, i assure you he will be near top of the list on the coaches hot seat list come august. based on his history, he can't do a damned thing to stop it unless he convinces the trustees that conference usa would be a wonderful change of pace (even that's no sure thing--his record in the bush leagues before hammy got desperate was anything but promising). any coach who hires on under our boy wonder would be well advised not to buy. a one year lease would be prudent.

We need a special teams coach also. Someone who can get them tocover and tackle, and teach them how to kick field goals and punt and have a decent avg.:good!:

Trooper! I talked to Terry Fair today and he said"i know of a few guys Who asked to come to practice and were turned down". If ex players are not around and we have a completly new staff who is going to show the vol way? Why on earth would Dooley not want the knowledge and leadership around, not to mention recruiting?

Called at 12:47 sat on hold then terry answered and said hold til the top of the hour, I asked then and called back about 30 min. later so everybody could hear the answer. Anyway call the drive tommorrow yourself. I was and still support DD, but unless TF was misinformed DD has his head up a dark hole and needs to use the VOLS FOR LIFE to his advantage.
