Kraagthorpe of Tulsa's name comes up a lot when coaching shuffles start. He has really re-built that program and made it more than competitive. I could see him being offered NC State or Miami.

another name floating around the carolinas for the NCSU job is Paul Johnson from Navy....he's really caught their eye as well...

the NCSU job is interesting....they have upgraded facilities, stadium etc...they have a fairly rabid fanbase, with allbeit unrealistic expectations, they have money, they're in a big time conf....

But here's what really pisses off NCSU fans more than anything...down the road at UNC....a school that really could care less about football...fires the beloved UNC son, John Bunting and hires Butch Davis.

Fans in Raleigh are heard screaming "No Fair, No Fair! we're the ones that care about football, what are you doing?". ONly to have the fired John Bunting go on to beat NCSU and Chuck Amato, who prior to the game had the full backing of the AD and was in no apparent danger of losing his job. After the loss, again to UNC (3 in a row i believe) and their already fired coach, the AD for NCSU was quoted as saying he had made no determination on what would happen in the off season regarding the HC position for the wolfpack. quite a change from "full support" to "we have not made a determination" in the matter of a day or two.

Bottom line is NCSU has the ULTIMATE little brother syndrome. UNC continues to beat them at everything, including the sport that UNC fans care the least about, and NCSU fans supposedly care the most about, and then beats them to the punch to p/u a great coach in Butch DAvis...so NCSU is left scratching their heads once again, looking up to Big Brother in Chapel Hill...wondering how'd we get here again?

Living in this region...NCSU is a comedy of errors, and from a pure entertainment standpoint, it's a lot of fun to listen to NCSU fans bemoan both the bball and football program compared to UNC.

and that's why i think this is an undesireable job right now.

Dont' forget Norm Chow was the OC in Raleigh when Philip Rivers was the qb...that's the connection the wolf pack fans are hoping pulls thru...

He was the offensive coordinator and QB coach of NC State demigod Phillip Rivers. I think he's pretty much their version of Peyton Manning. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they are all Chargers fans. I bet they would love to welcome back Norm Chow.

I have strange views on the situation...I was raised in TN and a Vol fan (still am), but I went to NCSU. Obviously, I don't want Cut or Chow to leave their respective OC positions. Paul Johnson would be a great addition for the Wolfpack, but I've also heard Lane Kiffin (OC for S. Cal) -- whose dad, Monte (DC for TB Bucs), coached at NCSU in the 80's -- as a candidate. State needs someone relatively young (under 50) whom can assemble a good staff and actually motivate their players consistently: when you beat halfway decent teams like BC and FSU, but lose to high school teams like UNC -- it means your coaches failed at motivating & preparing your players. That's like beating LSU and losing to Vanderbilt every year.

I've seen on the internet where some Southern Cal fans aren't to cozy with Lane Kiffin since the UCLA game and the OSU game and all the close games that USC fans are used to killing the other team.

They arent calling for his head but it looks alot like the rumblings with Randy Sanders that we used to see around here.

Funny, I remember when Chow left SC that followers of the Trojans were saying Norm would not be missed at all....
