If Crompton starts against UGA

Here's the thing. In the beginning, Coach Kiffin said "The best players will play" Okay, I can respect that. However, Crompton is not the best player at QB. Stephens can't be any worse than Crompton, I just don't believe it for one second.

It's obvious why Crompton is still in the game- because he's taking all the blame for a bad offense that is equally the offensive coordinator's fault. If Stevens stinks up the joint, now everyone is going to point the finger at Kiffin, and his ego can't take that. Crompton didn't play that bad (259 yards passing 2 TD's 0 int's). You guys had a lot of drops too. The whole timing of the offense as a whole is off and that's the responsibility of the O.C.

Kiffin= Ron Zook. Very energizing in the off-season, a great recruiter, but an awful gameday coach! Look at the improvement of an average Kodi Burns. He's killing it at Auburn under the tutelage of a good offensive coordinator. Much better than last year. Crompton hasn't improved at all. The inexperienced and arrogant Kiffin is realizing fast that maybe all those points he's scored in the past had more to do with Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, etc. than with his "genius" playcalling at USC.

Even though Chizik looks like a GREAT hire (5-0) at Auburn, you guys are still winners at the o' so important war of words during the off season so you have that going for you- which is nice. ANd don't worry- Lady Vol's basketball is right around the corner!!!!

You again? I KNEW there was another idiot I had to add to my ignore list.. Thanks for the reminder

NS is terrible guys. Early in the season, they reported the practice squad screams at him while he throws the ball everywhere except to the receivers.

We know what Crompton has but we have never seen Eric Berry. If Berry is as bad as the coach's say then why do we even have him on a scholarship? Even the ESPN announcers stated how bad Crompton is and rated him top 5 worst quarterback. Crompton always plays good enough just to keep everyone guessing; the point is he just plays good enough to lose. I almost think he does this intentionally. His receivers cannot catch the ball now because they have not seen a ball in so long they have forgotten how to catch a ball. The defense deserves a quarterback; somebody to give them a rest every once in a while. Backs are doing their job so where is the missing link????? You figure that one out!!!

We have receiver problems, too...it's bad when the tight ends have to block, catch and be leaned on to make all of your big plays. Crompton threw the ball low and behind Stocker, but the guy caught it. Jones and Hancock contributed little in my opinion. These are our best hands guys? What happened to "if it hits your hands, you catch it"? With all of our QB woes, the guys need to step up, run the right routes and make incredible if not impossible catches that 5-star receivers should make. None of these guys try to come back to help Crompton out when pressure is coming...Hancock deserved the line drive in the earhole, IMO...and he certainly wouldn't start next week if I were coaching. The defense was gassed and gave up a lot of yards b/c these guys couldn't catch a cold and give them a breather...pitiful, really.

If there are worse QB's on this team, how did they get a scholarship to UT. I don't blame Crompton for all the problems, but his decision making is awful. He has no touch on the ball and is not very mobile.

I WATCHED the game and he played awful. He played decent in the 4th quarter but that's too little too late. Now's not the time to be self-righteous man. If you loved your team you would want the best for it. And the best is NOT Jonathon Crompton.

Unfortunately, there is no better option. We as UT fans just need to hope that Crompton minimizes his mistakes, the receivers stop playing poorly (worst receivers at UT in a long time), and Montario doesn't get injured. There are 7 games remaining and the Vols still have a good shot at a respectable season. Go Vols!

It helps that Auburn's QB had offseason surgery to correct a problem he played with all last season too. I don't think there is a surgery that can fix Crompton. Your comments about Kiffin sound more like fear. Kiffin will own the Gators sooner than later. The Gators fear Kiffin.

I wish stephens would come in and throw an int so u guys would shut up.

No, no. Give Stephens enough playing time to throw EIGHT ints and then we'll see what else he's done along the way.

Do you really think that Nick is worse than 2 for 12 and fumbling the snap from center?

Lane Kiffin evidently thinks that he is.

And so is 2010 when that TE playing QB has to finally get a job...get used to being owned

I will not watch the game. The fans deserve a QB change. Kiffin is being stubborn beyond belief. I have never witnessed a QB play so bad and not get benched. I am speechless. We are literally forfeiting our season. At this point who cares if Crompton never gets his confidence back????? We need a change.

Come on....you know you're gonna watch. It's just like driving down the interstate and there's a terrible wreck. You keep telling yourself as you slowly pass by the carnage that you aren't gonna look...it's just not the right thing to do to look at the misfortune of others. But you pass by....and sure enough, you look. You'll watch the game my friend, oh yes, you'll watch the freakin' game.:)

Watching Crompton doesn't make me half as mad as watching CLK send him back in every series. He's making the choices, but fans pay good money to watch this team play.

...take your own advice. Urban Meyer 5-0 vs Tenn.

Face the facts- you guys made a bad hire, Auburn made a good hire. The sooner you guys realize this the better you're program will be. Trust us. We had Zook (Kiffin) for 3 years.

Face it. You guys made a bad hire.

Lane Kiffin's idea of halftime adjustments: Changing sweatshirts for luck. Wow.

How about Jones, Moore, Hancock, and the whole kick off team? Are you going to watch if they start?

Crompton stank. No question. However he was pretty hot when the kick off team gave Auburn the winning FG. He was ice cold in the first 3 qtrs... OTOH, Moore, Jones, and Hancock all had costly misplays.

I frankly don't care whether you watch or not. I'll watch... and I'll hope that somehow Kiffin and Co can turn that last qtr into a spring board. I'll watch if Crompton plays, Stephens plays, or they give Joey Matthews an extra year of eligibility and start him. I'll watch if they play the guy in the Smokey outfit.

I'm a UT Vol fan. I'm not watching because of Crompton... or Kiffin... or any other individual player.

Is Kiffin being stubborn because he won't do what you want? Well how dare he? Give us a break. Be a fan or don't be... but stop trying to act like you know why the guy is doing what he's doing. All you have is what the rest of us have- guesses... some educated/intelligent, some not.

BTW, a brief list of stubborn, determined coaches: Bear Bryant, Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Nick Saban,... Clearly many fail never to have their names remembered... but almost all truly great coaches are somewhat "stubborn" about sticking with THEIR plan and THEIR way of doing things.

Remember in 2005 when Ainge sucked and a bunch of the players were openly asking for Rick Clausen? I haven't seen anyone saying Nick Stephens needs to be in. I have heard him called "Pick Nick" since 2007, I believe.

These first 5 games won't be the determining factor in that. Kiffin inherited a team that is very thin. He inherited two QB's that he can't hand the ball to and know the job will get done.

He didn't inherit a team recruited by Zook. Zook handed Meyer a deep and talented team.

Let's let it play out. We'll know soon enough if it was a bad hire or not.

i agree. there are div2 teams that have less inept offenses than we do. Blame it on crompton if you want, but the coaches are responsible for the product on the field regardless.
Posted via VolNation Mobile

That argument will be valid in three years. These coaches are NOT responsible for the OBVIOUS lack of talent relative to the delusional aspirations of most Vol fans for this year.

It is what it is. Kiffin didn't promise anything but improvement. Its obvious that its a slow an painful process.

He didn't do himself any favors by pounding WKU. All that did was make the uninformed and fair-weather fans froth at the mouth and start talking out their arses!

Auburn won by a field goal this year and a safety last year. Both teams are better than they were last year.

You jump to some of the most moronic conclusions.

We made a fine hire.

You should hope that after Urban leaves this year for ND that you can be as lucky as you were when you hired him.

You can come gloat, but next year you'll see a different UT. And your Gators won't have many teeth as you think.

Good luck if Super-Circumsizer doesn't get to play at LSU...
